I had gotten my septum pierced about a year ago, but had taken it out since the threading on my jewelry was bad and one of the balls fell off which meant I could not turn it up at work. When I got some new jewelry made for me the hole had started to shrink and they guy from that shop (I got my septum pierced the first time at Blvd. Tattoo in Escondido. Its this whole in the wall place that has a very small selection of jewelry. They first put a very large piece of jewelry in which I could not turn up [and I did make a point of letting them know I would be doing that] and now after getting my septum redone and knowing it should have been tapered I did not like how they handled me the second time. Also when I came in a day after I got it and told them I needed a smaller piece of jewelry they said it was the smallest they had and that they could not change it if they had the right size in because it was too fresh. Which after going to Dutch Touch in El Cajon I was able to swap it out, Dutch just followed the jewelry through) popped it through. Well it was sore so I just took it out. I had really wanted to get it back in again. And so my story goes....
At A Glance Author Morgan Contact Morgan@TattooChick.com IAM Tattoo Chick When A week ago Artist Art Studio Church of Steel Location Downtown San Diego, CA I had gotten my nipples pierced by Art at Church of Steel and really liked his work so I figured I would continue with him and have him re-pierce my septum. I made an appointment. I went down there on Saturday night with my friend Alicia. I was kind of scared because when I was doing my reading on Septum piercings before I got it done the first time I read one where a guy had gotten it done three times and it had hurt worse each time. Well after talking to Art he said that septum piercings sometimes do not heal all the way up as fast and he may be able to find the original hole and just taper it to fit the jewelry. I totally believe in Art but was still a little doubt full since I had not had the original Septum piercing in more then a few months.
Alicia, Art and I all went back to the room where Art does his piercings. The walls have pictures of him and news paper clippings pertaining to him on the walls. Everything was laid out in its plastic. He makes you feel really calm and lets you know everything he is doing. He did the normal cleaning of the area being pierced and said he could see where the old hole was. I closed my eyes because the site of the needle never does me any good. When I opened my eyes I had a thin needle sticking out each side of my nose. He had found the hold and now only needed to taper it. I really wish I would have brought my camera like I had planed because I looked pretty funny.
He then followed the needle through with a taper. I could feel it stretching a little but no pain what so ever. I was waiting for some kind of stretching pain when he said he was at the end of the taper and now all he needed to do is put the jewelry in. I think the hardest part of the whole thing was waiting for him to put the little balls on so I could get up and really look at the Septum piercing I had missed so much. He said just soak it in warm sea salt water and you are done. This is the first time I have ever gotten out of a piercing without any breaking of skin. It was great.
He went through the cleaning and even answered questions Alicia and I had about things other then just my septum. He then introduced us to a tattooest in his shop named Mark since I am planing on finishing my back and getting quarter sleeves. I am really excited and can not wait to go back to Church of Steel for either a tattoo or another piercing.
I would highly recommend Church of Steel for anyone in San Diego getting Tattoos and/or Piercings. I have only gotten Piercings done through but have talked to one of the Tattooest about finishing my back there. Art is a great guy and is not going to pierce you just to pierce you but will give you the facts about the piercing you want. The place is not covered with flash. Instead they have it in books. Its a welcoming place and everyone is really nice. I will not go anywhere else for any of my piercings.
