Hi! My name is Heather and I have always had a thing for piercings. I always wanted to get piercings and be proud of them, but the one I wanted more than anything was a nostril piercing. I wanted one ever since I was 7 years old. I thought it stood out from the rest and accentuated the face so beautifully. It made the nose seem graceful and beautiful, so of course, I wanted one.

I had begged my parents for years to get it. To be exact, since I was 10, which is for 5 year! I threatened to do it myself, plenty of times and almost went through with it, but I just couldn't give it that extra push. I could just imagine how painful it would be to have it done professionally, much less done on my own, and that scared me so much. But I was thoroughly determined to get it!

Well, one day I made a deal with my mom and told her that I would find a way to cover it up and hide it from my dad if she let me do it. She agreed after a while of thinking and finally decided to take me. But when we got to the piercing place, we had changed our minds! The place was dirty and the needles were not in packages, so that made me nervous!

Having done all of the research and everything, I knew exactly how the piercing parlor should be. Clean, well-kept, sterile and much much more! So I found a place on the net called Stevens Salon, and called to make my appointment. But it had recently changed it's name to Glenn B's. So I made the appointment and went in that afternoon following school.

I walked in, very nervously holding my nose as if I were losing something very precious to me, but I wanted it SO bad! I sat down in the little chair and Vicky thoroughly explained to me how to clean it and what to use, followed by how the procedure would be done. She told me that she would be using a gun and I kinda quivered at the thought of it, but decided it was now or never, so I took my chances!

I leaned back in the chair, with Vicky hovering over my face placing the dot to make sure that was where I wanted it. I had her change it 5 times or more, but she willingly and nicely did. Finally, it was placed just right and I couldn't wait any longer! So I told her to go ahead and pierce it!

The next thing I know, She has the gun tip up my nose and I hear a click. I was waiting for the pain to kick in, but it didn't atleast not right away. The piercing itself did NOT hurt at all! AND I WAS VERY SURPRIZED! Since I had read many stories here on BME saying it hurt, but mine didn't. I guess I have a very strong pain barrier!

So I quickly stood up and peered over at the mirror looking at my new additon! I LOVED IT! It was soooo amazing and my favorite thing ever! I walked around the room asking people if it looked ok and they all loved it, so I proudly walked out of the salon with my nose held high, literally!

Then I got home and cared for my nose ring very carefully for the next 8 days, then I started noticing that the ring was too tight. It was digging into the piercing, keeping it from getting cleaned very well and my nose had turned red that it looked black! I began getting scared, but I decided to keep it in because I LOVED IT SO MUCH! Then one day, I could feel my pulse in it and it started turning blue around the ring. I couldn't take it anymore

So I decided to take it out. It hurt SOOOOOOOO bad taking it out! The pain was almost unbearable because it made my eyes water and I could just feel my heart beating really hard! I cried because of it. I didn't want to take it out, but having it pierced with a gun was not wise at all. So my hole closed up very quickly, even though there's still a little dimple there and it's a little darker in color, you can't really notice it. I still miss it and I plan to do it again soon, probably this summer, to give it time to heal right.

Here are some suggestions as to how to keep it nice and clean:

1)Do not have it pierced with a gun! Big No-No!

2)Go to a very clean and consious piercer.

3)Make sure the ring is not too tight and that you can clean it very easily and thoroughly

4)Using sea salt from GNC or some pharmaceutical store is the best way to go! It heals it very good.

5)If you notice that it's a little tight, go to your piercer right away and have them loosen it. I guarantee that will help!

Well, I hope I've been of some help to ya and I hope you enjoyed my story! Bye!
