So I have been yearning to get another body modification after I got my industrial a little over a month ago, which is healing very nicely. My problem was that I can't have visible piercings at work, and my mother wouldn't be very happy if I got another one. So I needed something that was hidable, and I am not interested in genital or nipple piercings (at least not yet...)

I was looking at septum piercings and thought they kicked ass, but I wasn't sure if it would look good on me or not, it's a hard piercing to visualize. A huge plus with the septum was that I could get it pierced with a retainer, so then I could hide it at work, and I wouldn't have to tell my mother.

Sitting in art class this morning with my friend Courtney, we decided that we'd skip the rest of school and go downtown since I needed to pick up some items I had on layaway at a store. So we were there and I told her that I wanted to get my septum pierced, and I had the cash. So we went on to Blackhole. I talked to the girl at the counter (who remembered me from my industrial) and she said they could pierce it with a retainer, so I told I wanted to get it. My first choice though was a labret, but they can't pierce a labret with a retainer, it would need to be fully healed before you could wear a retainer. I filled out the usual paper work and was ready to go. Najwa was going to be my piercer once again, she had done my industrial as well. So I had to drag Courtney upstairs, she didn't want to watch, she couldn't believe that I was doing this.

So we head upstairs, to the same room I was pierced in the last time. Najwa had me sit on the table while she got everything ready. While doing that, Najwa esplained to me that the septum was a "blind piercing" so she couldn't mark it and that there's the chance that it could be pierced crooked, and she'd have to re-pierce it. I was okay with that and we were ready to go. It was kinda wierd when she had to stick her fingers up my nose to feel around, she said that I had plenty of room.

I was extremely nervous because my industrial hurt so bad I almost passed out, so I was expecting something similar. Najwa told me that a septum is a piece of cake compared to an industrial. Courtney was sitting in a chair, and she was freaking out more than I was. I think she was making me more nervous then anything.

I closed my eyes so that I didn't have to see the needle, Najwa told me to take a deep breath and then to breath out, and she stuck the needle through. It actually didn't hurt at all, a slight burning and tingling sensation though. Putting the jewelry in hurt slightly, but nothing major. Najwa said that it has excellent placement and looks very good. She showed me how to pull the retainer forward so that it's visible and how to push it back so that you can't see it.

I sat in one of the chairs in the room, since Courtney had to get her nose stud clipped. I patiently waited and sat there in my glory, I am extremely happy with this piercing.

I went downstairs and there was a guy at the counter this time, and he explained the after care and gave me a little bag of sea salts to get me started. I paid my $37 and tipped $7 and was outta there.

As soon as I got in the car I started calling all my friends and telling them. They were all surprised and could not wait to see it. I was floating on air, in fact you could say I was giddy.

The drive home was a bit uncomfortable because my nose kept running, but I didn't want to blow it. I still don't want to. I also kept having to sneeze, and that's a wierd sensation with this piercing. I think my fixation and constant thinking about it was what was making me think I had to scratch it. When I went to flip the retainer back so that it was hidden, there was a slight burning. But it wasn't so uncomfortable that it really bothered me. In six weeks I can start to change the retainer to real jewelry.

It looks incredible, I can't take my eyes off of it. I am so in love with this piercing and I am so happy that I got it. I can't wait unitl I go to school tomorrow and get to show it off.
