For nearly a year now, I've been in love with septum piercings.

I don't know what it is, the tribal aspect certainly has a large influence over me and also the fact the fact that I also love centrally located designs and piercings.

Anyway, while looking up information on vertical (why do they call a horizontal piercing a vertical piercing anyway?) septril (bridge) I stumbled across bme, I spent some time reading experiences and finding out how the procedure is usually carried out.

Anyway, I got about £50 out of my bank account and went on the search for a piercing studio, after going to a couple of places I found someone who would do the piercing properly and safely.

I saw the inside of his studio, his autoclave, the jewellery and where the piercing was to be carried out, and let me tell you this, it was absolutely spotless, no shit on the walls, nothing on the floor, seriously it's cleaner than an operating room.

Anyway, I met the guy who was going to alter my body forever, this guy's name is Adam, and he himself had a septum, labret, medusa and a tragus piercing. I think he had a few others but I didn't see them.

So he checked my nose to see if it could be pierced without any problems, he checked with a ball less bcr (or cbr) to see if it would be straight, he showed me with a mirror and it looked straight.

He got out all the equipment he was going to be needing, the circular barbell, the piercing needle the receiver and all the other stuff. He put on some disposable gloves and told me not to breath while he was cleaning the area to be pierced with a tissue that had been dipped in some strong cleaning agent. He marked the entrance and exit points, it took like three attempts before he and I were happy with the way the septum would be pierced.

During all this process I found out that the guy was Mexican, and knowing Spanish myself we talked for the rest of the procedure in Spanish, he put me at ease, we even talked to about one of my favourite bands, Brujeria. At this point I wasn't even nervous or anything, if I had been nervous to begin with this guy would have calmed me down.

So the guy told me to lie down, at this point he'd already taken off the gloves he'd used during preparation and put on some new ones, he told me to take deep breaths and close my eyes, next thing I know the guy's getting ready to put that needle through, he makes sure that the receiver's ready and that needle is on the right marked entry point, I begin to feel pressure from both sides then the needle goes through, now this hurts for about 10-15 seconds or so but the needle's through so now the jewellery's got to be fitted, this was done in a stage of pulling the needle out with the jewellery on the other end of the needle, the jewellery goes in with a bit of a struggle but it's in, Adam put's the balls on the ends of the circular barbell and cleans up again.

I look in the mirror, and because one side of my septum has less skin on it, it made the piercing look bent! But I know that once this fucker heals I'm stretching it to a 6 gauge so I can put in these tusks I've been wanting to use for ages, anyway, I go out to the front desk and pay £32, which to be honest is money well worth spent. I get the details on aftercare, you know, the salt water cleaning and all that stuff.

So I go outside and I'm pretty much on a high from there on, Adam told me not to touch the piercing but I just had to try and straighten it out, hours later, I clean it as described in the aftercare leaflet and realize that by pushing the bottom end of the barbell to the top part of the feltrum it looks fucking straight.

I got the piercing done at about 5.00pm and it's now 11.38pm, it feels great and I'm looking forward to stretching this piercing, he he.

To anyone with a reason to get this piercing or if you're just looking for something to balance out all your other facial piercings I recommend this piercing.

As I said before, this was my first ever piercing and it won't be my last, I intend on getting a medusa and jungle and some pocketing done after this. I've also thought about getting my ears done and stretching them to like 2 gauge for some mean flesh tunnels but right now I'm at school and without a retainer (you're allowed to have one facial piercing) I'm still going to get into shit for it.
