This may come as a shock to my family but I really am normal. Even though I have thirteen piercings and four tattoos. They consider me to be some sort of freak. At the very least, they consider me "scary." I had been thinking about getting another piercing for awhile, but I couldn't decide on what to get. On one hand I wanted something that was going to be easily hidden, but on the other hand I wanted something that was going to make a statement about who I was and be able to show it off.

I had it in my mind that this was going to be one of my more painful piercings. I was looking forward to the pain as well as dreading it. My other piercings have been a variety of different pain levels. My tongue was by far the least painful and my clit hood was my most painful. It's not that I mind the pain, but I like to know what I'm getting into.
After I decided on the septum piercing I couldn't wait to get down to the shop and get it done. I didn't want to go alone, so I invited my best friend Tracey along for the ride. She ended up getting her septum done also. (I think it was because I was paying for it though.)
I drove down to my favorite piercing studio which is called Body Piercing Unlimited. I remember driving in the car and thinking..."This is going to be so much fun". I was very ready to be pierced! I went into the shop and told Mickey (the counter boy) that we wanted to get our septums pierced. I asked him about the cost, which was $70 each. And the size that they usually like to pierce with, which was a 12 gauge. And I also asked if it would be able to be hidden. He said "Yep, no problem there, just flip it up into your nose." So Tracey and I picked out 12 gauge SSS curved barbells. I know Tracey wanted to go with the capive bead ring, but it would be impossible to hide.
I found out Ryan was going to be our piercer. He took me into the room and got everything prepared. They have everything in sterile bags and they use about 5-6 pairs of gloves throughtout the whole procedure. Between cleaning the work area, getting the needles and jewelry ready, and the actual piercing he was constantly changing gloves. It made me very aware of how well the shop was run.
Ryan then told me that he was going to check my septum to see how my "sweet spot" felt. He said that some people have a very small sweet spot and it can be more difficult to pierce. He had gloves on and proceeded to stick his fingers up my nose and feel around. I thought he was was going to whip out the "salad tongs" that I was familiar with from getting pierced before. But Ryan said that all I had to do was tilt my head back and hold very still. No tongs for me.
We were ready! Ryan told me that he was going to use the blunt end of the needle in one side of my nose and the receiving tube in the other side to make a small mark on my "sweet spot". So he had me tilt my head back a little and put held the tube inside my nose and with the end of the needle he made a little indentation. It really made my eyes start to water while he was doing this, and I only felt a little sting as he made the mark.
Next he told me he was going to flip the needle around, and when he told me to, breathe in and then exhale and then he would pierce. This was the part that I was waiting for. The time had come to experience the full pain/pleasure of getting pierced!! I focused on some point on the ceiling as Ryan told me to inhale, and then exhale. POP....it was done! It felt like a slight pressure inside my nose and then the sensation of the needle pushing through my skin. I was so relieved that it didn't hurt I had him keep the needle in for a minute to see what it looked like. It was so cool!!
After I had had my fill of looking at this 12 gauge needle sticking through my nose, I turned back to Ryan and he got the CBB that we had decided on earlier, and popped it right it. No problem at all, nice and smooth.
I had Ryan show me how to flip it up and down. I was really amazed that once I flipped it up into my nose it was practically invisible. I was very happy with my new piercing. And I'm still enjoying it today!
