Septum Ring at Tribal Ways |
| ||||||||||||||||
You all might possibly theoretically remember me from such earlier experiences as my labret and industrial stories. Well, about six months ago I went down to Boston from Maine and got my septum done by the excellent piercers available slightly further afield from podunksvi...I mean Maine.It all began as I, my beautiful and wonderful girlfriend, my friend Newt (going to get a madison) and our idiot chaffeur Josh saddled up the Caddy to drive the four hours to Boston. Little did we know the drive would be long, tedious, and...wait....we knew it would be long and tedious! We just settled on being happy to be going to get pierced.
We spent an hour looking for the place once we entered Boston, and finally finding it, discovered to our chagrin that of course this was reservations only. Boy, were our faces red. Well, not really. Oddly enough, as Fate had in store for us, there were three bookings unfilled or cancelled later that night. So we went down to this weird food mall thingamajigger and stood around in there for three hours getting shit to eat, or was that some other time somewhere else....well, in any case, we stood around for way too long waiting for our four piercings to come up.
We went back, got sat on the couch next to some chick getting a labret, and went over the aftercare and all the stuff necessary for our piercings to not leap out of our faces/lower necks/lower extremities. I knew the drill so I sat back and half-listened, waaaay too excited to care. I was first up, so I dragged Trisha in to watch me get pierced. Micheal had an extremely excellent chair-side manner, and when he sat down next to me to do the markings, I was very pleased with how comfortable I actually felt. Unlike my previous piercings. Perhaps it was just the apprentices that I could chat with and the comfortable environment. He went over placement, and explained if he didn't get it straight the first time, he would keep trying for free until he did...which sort of scared me, I expected it to hurt. Heheh. Well, he told me to take a deep breath, count to three quietly, and just after 1 he stuck me with the needle!
My eyes watered and I felt a very cold and numb sensation. This piercing did NOT hurt. The taper, however, to taper the 14 ga hole down to 12 to allow the access of the 14 ga jewlery, however... well, the taper was an extremely cold pain as well. Very nice in its way. I immediately got up and hugged my girlfriend, shook Micheal's hand, and went to look in the mirror. After that was Newt's madison, which I sat in on, and Trisha's....well, down there. I'll let her explain, if she'd like.
I highly extremely totally recommend Tribal Ways, Micheal did me and Newt and his son did Trisha, both experts and there was no pain on any of the piercings. I am going back there ASAP to get my bridge and tongue done, with the state of genital piercings being illegal in Maine, I might very well get an amp done there as well. Go get more piercings! (Or some, either way. :-D)
And feel free to e-mail with questions!

Short FAQ to make the experience longer so people can actually see it-
What do you have done, Bob?
Glad you asked that. I got my industrial done first, then my labret, then my lobes pierced by an extremely drunk and insane biker guy at some shop in NH, then my septum. I am going to get my tongue and bridge done next, hopefully at the same time, then the nipples, then an ampallang.
What are you looking to do with your piercings and other mods?
I am looking to find myself in the midst of my own paranoia and self-loathing. With the help of my girlfriend, we have made leaps and bounds to getting myself out of the misery that enshrouded me all through adolescence to high school. Now, I see myself with the aforementioned piercings, implants on clavicles and forearms, and possibly branded wrists and anklets. I am also definately going to split my tongue, by hook or by crook. I see my piercings as an extremely deep part of myself, and look to create my own outer image through them.
So did your other piercings hurt?
Well, you can go back and look at them in particular. My labret hurt a bit, eating was annoying the first little while. My industrial was like getting kicked in the ear every time I picked up the phone for two months. :-D That said, run out and get it. It looks good. :-D
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Happily married, probably finished my modification journey, having achieved my own personal perfect self.
Thanks go to BME for allowing me to explore piercings in particular and modifications in general over the course of the last two years, and to Trisha, my girlfriend, my best friend, who has helped me find the door to myself.
