So here's my story
I've been checking out BME a lot lately, to think about a new piercing. Since I've seen the tongueweb-piercing, I knew I had to have it! So, since I actually knew I wanted it in February this year, four months have passed. Four months on thinking about it, watching pictures, asking questions, reading experiences and also even trying myself.
Yes, I've tried to do it myself. I read a lot of experiences of peoples who did it theirselves and succeeded. They all said it was very easy. They all said it didn't hurt. So I ordered 1.6 needles (stupid, I know now ,since I couldn't fit in the barbell I wanted ) and a 10mm 1.6 barbell (I know now the barbell wasn't 10cm. More about 8.) But after giving it another good think-over I decided not to and let the needle and barbell be for about a month. I still had them though, I paid for them so why not keep them. So one night, I was reading experiences again and I really really wanted it so bad, that I decided to actually give it a go. So I went to my room and put the barbell in rubbing alcohol, rubbed in some clamps in alcohol, put some paper towels down and started. It took ages to get the clamp right and I didn't had the guts to actually put the needle through. It took me about two hours. It was through. It was too high. It was crooked. I was sad. It wasn't easy at all, but I had to agree with the 'it didn't hurt' part. It actually didn't hurt at all!Afterwards it just felt like it was a bit bruised. So I took the needle out and went back to my computer. I couldn't help but telling some of my friends and they all thought I was being stupid. I can't say they weren't right. Trying to pierce yourself is rather stupid, but I think it's something you must have done once. So I've done it once, and I'm not planning on doing it again.
One month later. I had asked information in four piercing shops. Only one was rather payable and had loads of experience! So I asked my friend if she would please please please come with me that Tuesday.
That Tuesday I had to work in the morning first and I was eating myself alive. I was so nervous! The time went by so slowly and I had to pee like six times in five hours. Finally I could go home and went to Zeist. I was so nervous I had to pee in a local supermarket. Which came in rather handy, I was there, because I could pin fifty Euro there too and if I didn't have done that I would have to cross half of town to get to a moneymachine. So I met my friend and I told a dozen times I didn't dare and I was too nervous and I had fifty Euro's so we might as well go shopping. She told me to shut up and we went to Tattoo Gert. He was funny and friendly, but I had to suggest a few barbells first (he wanted to put in a ring) before he actually was ready. So he put the clamps on. Oh my effin God! So he took them off again. And used some elastics to keep it closed but not too tight. He put the needle through, which didn't hurt, but I knew that already. He put the barbell in and warned me that putting the ball on would be the toughest part but it actually went very quick. So after a few seconds the ball was on and I could look at my new lover in the mirror. It's so cute!I can't convince my friend it really didn't hurt that bad, even though she's got a tongue-piercing which she didn't find that painful. But I paid and he took a picture, I thanked him and we went off. He looked in every shop window to see it and when we went to Claire's I stood still in front of every mirror in the shop. Then we went to the Hema to get a Coke and something to eat. At first I didn't think that was such a good idea, but I ate a muffin and it didn't hurt. That night I ate shoarma, which also went pretty well. I rinse it with water when I eat something and at night with alcohol-free mouth wash. It hasn't been swollen that much and it doesn't really feel that sore anymore.
My story is no guarantee that it won't hurt if you get your tongue-web pierced. But if you really want to get this done, just get it done. Pain is temporary, the piercing isn't.
