It was a week ago and I have always wanted tongue pierced. So one day after school, I decided to get it done. I took my friends and my step-sister to get it done. First I went into a piercing shop called "Essential Beauty". We went in there and I asked the lady if I could get my tongue pierced. She took me straight into a room and started fiddling around with no gloves and not washing her hands and stuff like that so I decided to give it a miss.

I walked into the shop. It was very neat and tidy. And most importantly it was very clean. So i decided to get it done there.
After I filled in all of the paper work, they led me into a very neat and presentable piercing room. I met Geoff (who pierced me) and Ashlee (who was his assistant). They offered me colored bars, or silver. I chose blue. I sat down in the dentist like chair, and had a mouthful of the most horrible tasting Listerine i have ever had! And Geoff drew the dot on my tongue. He asked if I liked it, and it was perfect.
So he got all of his gear organized and Ashlee was helping me stay calm. Ashlee put the clamps on and told me "If you can handle the clamps, the rest will be un-noticeable"
I thought she was lying to make me calmer because the clamps didn't hurt a bit.
When they got the clamps in the right spot, they put the needle through the bottom and out the top. They left it there for a second. And I can honestly say, I didn't feel it at all! And they pulled the bar through and that was it! Didn't hurt at all!
Geoff handed me a bottle of cold water and told me to drink a lot. And i went back into the front of the shop, and it was done. I had the tongue piercing I have always wanted.
On the way home, I was talking with a little bit of a lisp, but it wasn't bad at all. When we got home, I was feeling fine and all of day 1 went perfectly.
Day 2-
I woke up and my tongue was swollen, it was really big. But thankfully it wasn't as big as the bar. Geoff had told me that if it gets as big as the bar, I may have to take it out.
I ate yoghurt and jelly all day because I was too scared of biting down on the bar which is meant to be really painful. But apart from having a fat tongue and a bit of a lisp, day 2 was fine.
Day 3-
I woke up on day 3 and I am not going to lie, my tongue was huge! I was in pain (but not too much) and i took Ibuprofen to keep the pain and swelling down, which really helped.
I ate toast, but I had to put it to the back of my mouth and tip my head back to swallow. I have been washing out my mouth after eating anything, and it feels so much better after I clean it. It was a bit uncomfortable today as it was very swollen and it was nearly the size of the bar. But stubborn me just took Ibuprofen and went to sleep.
Day 4-
I woke up this morning and the pain had gone down heaps. It was still swelled up the same amount but I still had a bit of bar left so I wasn't worried. I was eating better today. I ate a hamburger (without the bun) but it just took me a while. Today was a much better day and I was starting to get used to having a piece of metal through my tongue.
Day 5-
Tuesday was a really good day for me. I was eating faster and the swelling had gone down a little bit, so I was a very happy girl today. I still had a minor lisp which would come and go, because sometimes I just got lazy when talking so the lisp came back. But apart from the lisp, everything was fine. I had a bit more bar showing, and it was going well.
Day 6-
Wednesday was good. I ate a lot today. I was so happy as the swelling had gone down a heap. And I was able to see a lot of the bar and my lisp had completely gone, today was great!
Day 7-
I ate hot chips and a hamburger with the bun today. It did take me a while, but eating solids is getting so much easier. It still hurts a little bit some times, but I think thats just because I am starting to eat harder foods and its not used to that yet, but apart from that, all is well.
Day 8-
I had McDonalds today and I am eating really fast. The swelling has gone completely down. I went back to Body Pleasure Piercing for my Check-Up, and Ashlee told me it has heeled faster and better than any body that she has seen since she worked there (1 year).
I am really happy with my tongue, and I am able to change the bar on Day 14.
Day 9-
Well today is Day 9 as I am writing this, and I got up this morning, ate my toast perfectly. I had chicken for lunch and nothing is getting caught around the ball anymore, and it isn't hurting at all. I couldn't be happier. I am going shopping for some tongue bars today. I am so excited!
All I can say, is make sure you clean it every single time you eat or drink anything apart from water. And make sure to use the yellow Listerine, as the colored ones may react with the bar.
If anyone that reads this wants to get theirs done, I highly recommend it. It is the best piercing out of the 10 I have got.
