When A week ago
I first had my tongue two and a half years ago when I was 16 and since then after the initial stress of being wound up by my mum it became one of my favourite mods. After a while I became interested in having it pierced centrally a second time centrally but alas never picked up the courage to do so while still living at home.

That was until the other week when I went to have my right nostril pierced I decided to enquire on the possibility of a second piercing only to be told by the piercer that another central piercing would probably greatly affect my speech due to having a relatively thick tongue, and that it a similar problem that she herself had, so she suggested having it pierced to the side.

After getting home I decided to look into side tongue piercings and thought that if I was to get it done I should get two to make it look more even. Next problem was picking up the courage to go get it done as I'm quite a quiet person and was a bit unsure of my housemates reaction if I told them what I was I planning.

Eventually I decided one day to do it spare of the moment on a Monday where I have a large break from lectures and so that if I backed out no one would be any wiser. I catch the bus and go into then piercing studio in town and speak to the girl on the desk and ask whether it would possible to get venoms done, but she did not know what I meant and thought I was talking about snakebites and so asked me to hang on while she went to grab a piercer. There I explain that I want to side tongue piercings on either side of my current piercing, which she told me was fine and said that my current tongue would have to be changed to the same size as my new piercings to allow for swellings. So I agree to do it pay up and find my tongue is going to be pierced with 22mm long pvd barbells and then get told to come back in 20 minutes to allow the jewellery to be sterilised.

In my 20 minutes break I decide to have a last little bit of solid food, the main problem with new tongue piercings is the discomfort while eating, after which I return to the studio and only have to wait a few minutes before being asked to go in.

Once in there I'm asked to stick my tongue out to change my barbells to the longer one while 'thinking I'm actually going to do finally'. Next my tongue is marked and then remarked as I asked for the placement to be moved back slightly to minimise tooth chipping. Next the most dreaded bit for me, the application of the clamps, which cause a sort of uncomfortable pinching sensation and then the bar was pushed though and that was it. The right hurt a little more than the left.

Everything was going fine, a little swelling and pain for the first few days and eating was quite a pain. But everything went wrong a week after having them done when I went out for the night and suddenly my mouth started filling with blood, so to repress it I drank lots of cold water and it stopped, but later that night it started gushing again and I had to go to hospital where the bleeding was stopped by gauze. By Wednesday a second round of extensive bleeding has started and another trip to a hospital was on the cards, this time they worked out it the was left venom that was bleeding and cauterized the area, which sounds painful but it wasn't.

Feeling that everything was going to be alright I went shopping on the Thursday, only to find that that blood was running out of my mouth and on down my top, so another ambulance took me to our local county hospital, where I had to wait over three hours to see a doctor who simply said we need a maxfac doctor to sort this out and he was on the other side of the county. Another wait and I got the worst news the piercings had been done wrong and the left venom had cheeswired towards my centre tongue piercing and had cut through one of my main blood vessels causing the bleeding and the only course of action was to have all three piercings removed and have the holes stitched. So where once was three piercings I now have six juicy stitches, as you can imagine I wasn't happy and the pain after the stitches was unimaginable but it had to done. So if your going for venoms make sure there done properly because if not you might end up like me, in lot of pain
