I have wanted my tongue pierced since grade 10, as a present to myself for finishing grade12 I promised myself that I would get my tongue pierced. The end of grade12 came and went and I wasn't really game enough to get my tongue pierced at schoolies on the gold coast because that meant I wasn't allowed to drink - "what good is no drinking when you are at schoolies I thought?" - so I waited until schoolies was over. It had been over for like a month until I started to thinking about this new found piercing I was about to receive and it started all three days ago...

Once Upon A Time...Ok well I wont bore you but basically, I wasn't feeling my bets and decided to go out and get a piercing to see if that would cheer me up, thinking it would. So I went to my normal piercing place Sacred Skin @ Stones Corner, Brisbane and my piercer lady - Kelly - wasn't there. Disappointed ~ Yes. Annoyed ~ Yes. Frustrated ~ Yes.

But this was not going to stop me.

Sooo...I went thru the Yellow Pages in search for body piercers that were open on Sundays, as this day was a Sunday, and found one that was open...Dark Magik. I called my best guy friend Nick and told him about what I wanted and he zoomed over in his car picked me up and drove me there. As we pulled up I was nervous. For those who do not know me, I am a chicken; I hate pain, especially needles. It all started when I was going to get my Tetanus Booster in grade10 when the nurse snapped the needle in my arm, oh my god! Did it hurt? F*%C yes! That's where my fear of needles began...MOVING ONWARDS I went into the piercer place filled out the forms and was ready to do whatever had to be done to get my tongue pierced.

Well...that's when I walked out, or attempted to at least. It's not a very pleasant thought having a needle placed through your tongue, just to let you know. Nick had his done before but took it out...He said to me "If you do this, I will buy you a happy meal, okay?" and I said "Okay."

Went in sat down and the piercer dude came over to me and took me into a very white room (that was nearly blinding) that smelt of really strong bleach, that was a little comforting knowing it was clean. He had all of his 'tools of body modification' laid out on what looked like industrial strength paper towel. He told me to relax and I couldn't knowing what was about to happen. By the way I expected this to be the worst pain ever...

He told me to stick my tongue out, and then he grabbed the clamps and pulled my tongue out further (didn't know it could go out tat far, was a bit of a shock) he lined the clamps up to whatever place he was about to pierce and said "Rightio...Breathe in (needle goes in) ... breathe out (needle does something else, I assume)...okay breathe in once more (he did something else here but not to sure what it was)". It was done. He asked me to stick my tongue back in, and, stupidly I did forgetting that I had a metal bar that was about an inch long in my mouth and it hit my teeth, that was weird... :O

I rinsed my mouth out with some heavy duty mouth wash while he told me the DO's and DO NOT's. Paid and left.

As I hoped into the car, Nick sat there and was talking to me, expecting me to answer; I wasn't really game enough to talk, afraid that it was going to hurt. But I attempted to, and could talk just fine...

It wasn't till we were passing MacDonald's that I realized I wouldn't eat a Happy Meal, "I'll get you a happy meal" he says, he knew full well I wouldn't be able to eat it, so he sat there and ate it in front of me...'(

My grandmother (the person I live with) freaked out when she saw it...But she's cool with it now, my boss hasn't seen it yet, although all of my close friends have and are all like "WOW". I don't have a lisp or a speech impediment at the moment I can still speak really well, but eating at the point in time is a bit of a challenge, I can chew properly, just really slowly careful not to bit my bar. It weird to sleep cuz I can't stop playing with it, but I love it anyways.

My best friends right now, three days later, are Ibuprofen and Frozen Cokes. YUM

It's still a lil swollen but nothing Anti-Inflammatory drugs cannot fix. Not sore really. Didn't hurt either.

If you are going to get it done or are scared to...JUST DO IT...YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Yet to see if my new-found boyfriend likes it though LOL

I hope so...

GOODLUCK
