For the last couple of years, I have always been wanting to have my tongue pierced to add to my collection of my other 5. Mainly because I really liked the look of them, and also because I felt that my boyfriend would enjoy it. But, I thought it'd be pretty difficult to hide that from my parents, they don't really enjoy the thought of their daughters getting piercings. So I thought I'd wait a bit. That didn't last too long.
At A Glance Author Kayla Contact Kayla@bme.anon When Three months ago Studio Orchid Location West Edmonton Mall My boyfriend and I were at the mall and we happened to walk by one of the piercing studios, where I had also had my nipple done there they're not too shabby. I decided to price out how much my piercing would be. I thought "why the hell not, I might as well" when the price was fairly good. So I was taken right away, she had me lay in the big leather chair and wiped my tongue dry and took out a little light to examine my tongue. She then expolained to me that she'd have to pierce it at a slant, which meant the top would be centered but the bottom will be a bit to the side. She told me if I wasn't comfortable with the way it would sit I don't have to get it. I thought about it and decided not to because I thought'd it look like crap, mainly because I didn't listen to her correctly. So I left the studio feeling a little bummed out because I had wanted it so badly. My boyfriend asked me why I didn't go for it, it'd still looked good cause the top would be centered. I was like it would? I thought'd it'd be at the side. Damnit!! So two weeks later finally I decided to just get it over with. I went in filled out the papers once again, etc. I waited about a good damn 20 minutes, which made me even more nervous the longer I waited. By this time my face was all red and I felt like walking out (which was weird cause it didn't happen the first time), but it was too late.
Finally the peircer was ready to take me in, but it was a different girl. I followed her into the room in the corner, which was a very tiny room the two of us could barelly walk around in. Then she explains me that she has now just started piercing as she has been aprenticing at the studio for awhile, that made me even worse I thought maybe she'd screw it up or who knows what else. But I thought I guess I'll give her a chance. She had my lay back in the big leather chair as she got her tools out. I told her that I went there before and I knew it had to be to the side after she examined my tongue with light again. I felt that it was just fine this time so I let her go ahead. Now by this time she had all the tools she needed out and ready.....
As I lay back in the chair she tucked a paper towel under my chin in my shirt as she marked the placing and then she put the cold clamp on my tongue, which was quite uncomfortable and made me drool a ton! Now she told me to close my eyes and take a deep breath in (by then I felt a little bit of pain/stinging on my tongue) and breath out, it was over all she had to do was put the bar in and that was it. She had me lay in the chair a couple seconds to relax and explaned the after care which was rince with non-alcohol oral b mouth wash 3 times a day and after I eat for 6 weeks. It wasn't too bad actually, I don't know why I chicken out every time. But I was glad I got it done. I loved it. On the way home I could barely talk though and it was hard to stop drooling since I wasn't used to a foreign object going through my tongue.
Now it's been 3 months, and my tongue is just fine. Only the first couple of weeks were the stupid parts. I could barely eat properly so all I had was ice cubes and popsicles. And it swelled up quite a bit. And my mom noticed that I was talking funny so she looked at me and told me to stick out my tongue, I tried to tell her it was my retainer but she sure as hell didn't beleive me. My dad still doesn't know, and I hope he never does. But after about a month it was great, I could finally put it to use. Plus, it's pretty fun to play around with the ball when I'm bored. Anyone who wants their tongue peirced go for it!!
