Day 1
At A Glance Author Erin Contact Erin@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Bryan Studio Lucky Devil Location Barrie My experience started about 2 weeks ago when I got the itch for a new piercing. I came up with a few options and talked them over with my boyfriend. I had narrowed what I wanted to a cleavage piercing, but my man didn't really like the look of it. The next one I suggested was a Vertical hood, but he was afraid that he would rip it out. Next was a tongue piercing and my boyfriend like that idea.
So today, January 21, my boyfriend and I walked down for his apartment to Lucky Devil. We got there and I told the guy at the counter what I wanted, he gave a form to fill out with my birthday and my allergies, and what medication I am on I paid the money, which was only $20 because the last time I was in there they had a hard time getting the jewelry in and he finally had to re- pierce me. After I filled it out Bryan came over and went over the aftercare process and me all things I should not eat, such as dairy and spicy foods, or drink such as beer and wine.
It wasn't busy, so I was able to go right away. I walked into a room and took off my jacket and sat on the dentist like chair. First I rinsed with mouth wash; Oral B alcohol free, it tasted like mint, so that was okay. He dried my tongue down then he took out a new marker and marked my tongue as far back as possible. The he took out his "trusty flash light" to make sure that the piercing would not hit my web. Everything as good to go, he re-dried my tongue off and I stuck my tongue out as far as possible as he put the clamps, which came out of a new package on my tongue. He told me to slowly breathe in and out, he counted to three and on three he stuck the new needle through my tongue. It didn't hurt at all really, the only thing I found uncomfortable was the clamp resting against my web. He then put the in the barbell and put the ball on the end. He told me a little more information, such as trying not to 'cheat' when I'm talking but not trying to pronounce words properly. I gave him a $20 tip, since I only paid $20 for the piercing, which I would have had to pay $70 for.
As soon as we left the shop my boyfriend and I walked up the Shoppers drug mart and bought a bottle of mouth wash. We then went shopping and I bought some freezes and jello. We then went back to his apartment and I started to suck on ice. When it was supper time my boyfriend made soup to eat, then I used the moth wash. I then went back to sucking ice for the rest of the night.
Day2
The next day I continued to suck on ice, and eat jello and soup. I had gotten the flue I guess at some point during the last few days, on while at school it decided to show its ugly head. Now I go to school in Toronto at York University, which is a 2 hour bus ride from where I live, so it's not that easy to just go home, and I had a test that day, which I had to take. So I stuck it out, using moth wash after every time I was sick, I'll spare you the details.
I got home around 9:30 and went straight to bed, after eating a bit more jello, and having some cold water to drink. I brushed my teeth and my tongue, which didn't really hurt at all.
Day 3
I woke up this morning still feeling sick, so I decided to call my work and tell them that I couldn't come in, which I felt bad about because my shift was 9-4 and I called in at 7. After that I brushed my teeth and used mouth wash. I looked at my tongue and it has not seemed to swell that much so far.
I headed back to bed because the only way I didn't feel like being sick was lying down. I slept for four more hours, and got up and brushed my teeth again because I can't stand the taste of my mouth when it is not clean.
My tongue dose not hurt at all, and so far the experience, except for being sick, has been okay. Once my tongue has healed I plan to switch the barbell to none metal jewelry to protect my teeth. I would recommend any body in the Barrie area to go to Lucky Devil because they have a friendly staff, and are very clean.
