This piercing is not the first one I have ever had done, so I kind of knew what to expect!

I did my research by asking around a few of my friends who had already had piercings done, and the one place that stood out was Kashmir in Grimsby.

A few years ago I had been pierced else where, but unfortunately I had a lot of problems with the healing process. I think after this experience I knew why.

For a few years I had wanted this done, but my first piercing had put me off. A combination of my boyfriends approval, and that it was something I had always wanted I decided now was the time to do it!

The day of my piercing I headed to Kashmir with a friend of mine. We walked into the shop and was greeted by a guy who looked like Ozzy Osborne!

I told him that I wanted to have my tongue pierced and he asked me for i.d. Luckily for me, I actually had my drivers licence with me.

Next he showed me down to the back of the shop and asked me to wait for the piercer, as she was in with another customer. I could smell cleaning type stuff coming from the room, which did not go down to well with my friends fear of hospitals!.

I waited a few minutes when the lady came out. She was really friendly and handed me a form to fill in. She explained what every thing meant to me on it as there where some confusing questions.

The first time I got pierced, I did not have to fill in any forms what so ever, hence the confusion.

Next, she took me through to the room and pulled out a selection of jewellery. Each item was pre packed in little pouches.

I choose a blue Titanium bar, which the lady informed was 1.6mm.

I sat down on the couch, which was covered in white roll and I managed to rip straight away!!!

The lady (who I then found out was called Denise) put on an apron, washed her hands, stuck some gloves on then started to set up her things on a trolley. It really did look like a hospital!

I noticed that she took a pair of clamps and some scissors from a steriliser, and placed them on a sheet of paper. She then took out a needle from a box which was sealed in a packet.

She gave me a handful of paper, and advised me not to swallow the anaesthetic.

I sat for a few minutes and could feel my mouth going really numb.

Denise then asked me to spit as much as I could. She then drew a tiny spot on my tongue and asked me if where she had marked it was ok for me. I agreed, and away we went.

By this time my friend was finding this really funny, as I had spit every where, and had some how managed to miss the paper and hit my leg!

This was it...... strangely I was not actually scared! The lady clamped my tongue whilst talking to me, which I thought was really nice, as all my mate could do was stand and laugh at me! The rest was too fast to write about.

I saw her pick the jewellery up, put the needle in a yellow bin then say that is it done!!

Quickest piercing ever, I think it took a few seconds to do.

I was advised to stay sat for a few minutes incase I felt dizzy. But I was fine.

The paper I was sat on, the gloves and the apron where all thrown away, and the clamps and scissors put in bags ready to be sterilised.

Denise handed me over a leaflet and some mouthwash tablets. She explained in detail how I should care for my piercing and gave me her number incase I had any future queries.

Its been a few months now and I have had no problems at all. It only swelled slightly and I had no pain. For the first few days I stuck to soup, and found it really good to suck ice cubes. Cleaning wise, I had been told to use salty water and mouth wash.

I would definitely recommend coming here, especially if it is Denise who pierces you. One thing to add is that I noticed she had certificates of training on the wall which was very nice to see and put me at ease. The only thing I found to be odd was how cheap it was, £15 including Jewellery. But After the whole experience I would not go else where, and just because other places charge more, it does not mean your getting a better piercing. I paid a hell of a lot more before and I had problems.
