When Five years ago
My tongue piercing was my first one (well, apart from lobes which I got done when I was seven) and it was after I had it done that I fell in love with body modification in general. It was like my entrance to a whole new world, and today I have had it for so much time that it is already a part of me and I cannot even imagine taking it out and living without it. I decided to share my story on here, because I am currently suffering from the healing of another piercing (but more on that in another story), and my memories went back to the time I had the most painless and the sexiest piercing - the one on my tongue.

I was in 10th grade, 16 years old. It happened in January. I was still at high school, and we had just started it after the winter break. During that time I had a very good friend of mine who dressed rave and had a lip ring. Being almost constantly in her company I wanted to look like her as well, that is why the idea of having a piercing nestled in my mind. However, I knew what my mother's reaction would be, so I decided to have it done somewhere it could be well hidden. At that time all I wanted was to just have a piercing SOMEWHERE (which is not the right way to think, you should know what you want!).

Well, the day was chosen and I and my friend went to the studio. However, the piercing artist was not there, and the other guy (I think he was the tattoo artist) told us to wait. We waited for hours...believe me, those were very exciting hours for me, I really trembled out of exciting and fear. Finally the piercing guy came along. I told him that I want a tongue piercing, and so he began preparing the needles and stuff. During that time I was already panicking and I didn't really pay attention to his preparations because I was afraid of the pain. But he was cracking jokes during the whole time, which definitely helped to make the atmosphere better.

The piercer applied local anaesthetic to my tongue. This is the single time someone applies anaesthetic when piercing me. I've got my navel and my labret pierced as well, but the other piercers never did that. After the anaesthetic was applied (it was in the form of a spray and he just sprayed my tongue several times with it) I was feeling my tongue numb in my mouth. I was lying on the couch with my mouth open. At the time I didn't know how a piercing is done because I hadn't done any research beforehand, but now I think about it, he neither marked my tongue, nor used clamps. Nothing of the kind! He just caught my tongue with his fingers (he used gloves, of course) and pierced it. It didn't hurt at all; all I felt was a subtle sting! Then he put in the barbell, screwed the ball on and voila, I could look at my new piercing in the mirror.

I was very thankful and I instantly liked the way it looked. I spent several more minutes in the studio. The piercer advised me to do so, but I was feeling so good I didn't need it at all. I felt not simply good, but euphoric! I paid for my piercing and then left.

Now, as I think back, the piercing guy never gave me any instructions for aftercare as well. So over the next few days I did nothing to help the healing process. During the same evening and the next day my tongue slowly swell and then got to its normal size again. Nothing more. Just slight swelling that lasted no longer than 24 hours. I have never had any problems with it. Never ever!!!

Eh, my mother understand about my piercing the same evening because I refused to eat and because I was having difficulty pronouncing some consonants (that lasted only a day). She didn't react that bad! Actually, she has never reacted that bad to any of my body modifications. She says she is disgusted by them, but I can swear she likes my tattoos, and she doesn't mind that much my other piercings as well. So, don't always believe your parents when they say they're gonna throw you out of home if you decide to get some kind of body mod ! :)

I can also swear that the tongue heals really fast, perhaps because the healing process is helped by the human organism itself through the saliva. Anyway, the piercing does not need any aftercare apart from not eating solid food for several days after getting it pierced. I have heard that one should restrain from smoking after getting their tongue pierced, but I smoked like half an hour after I had mine pierced. I am a bad girl.

I love my tongue piercing. I adore it because it is beautiful and it just looks fantastically sexy. So, I advise anyone that is considering getting their tongue pierced - just go for it! It is almost painless, it heals really fast and it looks wonderful. I've had mine since more than 4 years, I have never had any problems with it and I am sure I will never do, and I still love it with all my heart!!!
