For this particular story I guess I will start at the beginning. It all started when I was 18, March 13 of 2005, a senior in high school, and wanting to do something memorable for my Senior Trip. So my friend Aubrey and I decided that we were going to get pierced together.

So all of my class is in Galveston Texas, I had a really good time and it was the last day that we were going to be there. We were like right across the street from a body piercing parlor and everything. Body Language was the name of it. So Aubrey and I headed straight across the street to go get it done. Everyone was well aware of what our intentions were so our Assistant Principal went with the two of us as well as a few of my fellow classmates. I remember when we got in. It was clean and quiet, and no one else was there except for us. I must add that I thought it was exceptionally cool that they had the tattooing area up high so to speak. So I remember walking to the front counter and tell the man that I wanted to get my tongue pierced. Aubrey said the same, even though she had hers pierced weeks before. So I sign all of the paper work, and that's when our Assistant Principal called back home; and before I know it were all marching out of Body Language. Aubrey was pissed, but I wasn't for some reason. So they trust us to go across the street again to go get some lunch. That's when we run into this guy named Ali. We ask him to do us the favor of telling Body Language that we wanted them to unlock the back door for us.

So that was that after all the smiles and laughs, and resigning of the paperwork I'm sitting on this brown bed/chair with clamps on my tongue. I'm convincing myself that this is not going to hurt. The needle goes through like silk. I really didn't feel a thing. And once the barbell was secured I looked in the mirror and fell in love. After that I held Aubrey's hand while she got her nipples pierced. Flash-forward about a year later, I had some cash and decided to get a new barbell for my tongue piercing. I remember it had a very uncomfortable skull on it. I hurt putting the barbell in and to my surprise I had indeed made my first stretch. I'd say about a month or two after that, I did another dead stretch to a 10. I did this by pushing from either side of my piercing until I got the threads through. It was very painless; I was surprised at how little pain was involved. So two months later I was at it again. This time I used a "taper" from Hottopic, now anyone who has used a taper, as compared to the taper-like things they sell at Hottopic knows what I'm talking about. Never the less after pushing it through about ten times and then forcing the eight gauge barbell through it; I don't know how many times exactly I pushed it through but it took some trying.

So after this stretch I sort of chilled out on the whole stretching my tongue piercing out anymore. My manager where I work had a six gauge, and then a four gauge in her mouth and they looked pretty awesome to me. So after about a good four months of pulling on my barbells and playing with it I decided it would be a good time to stretch. So this time I decided that since pushing an eight gauge through my tongue was difficult I was going to need a real taper. I don't really like the whole thought of someone tapering for me (even though it might be safer, I don't think so). So I ordered a six gauge taper off of BodyArtForms.com. I was just getting over a cold, but I decided to go for the stretch nonetheless. So I cleaned the taper, and the barbell. And in front of my bathroom mirror I slowly began to push the taper through, there was some stinging as I made the flat end of the taper equal with the surface of the piercing. I did this several times over until it was less and less difficult. I let the taper sit hanging out of my tongue for a few minutes. Though still I couldn't manage to get the damn barbell through. I tried the top and the bottom and I just couldn't get the threads to meet on the other side. It would just stop somewhere in the middle of my tongue. Even if I lead it through with the taper. So I pulled out yet another taper. It was a red acrylic, it was supposed to be a six gauge but I was very close to four gauge.

This is the taper that did it. And boy did it sting. I have no other choice but to let myself drool down into my sink. So then here is the moment of truth. I take the red acrylic out and the push the six gauge barbell through the middle of my tongue. I can just see the threads just peaking from beneath my piercing's hole. Teasing me, and I think to myself in this moment; unlike every stretching before this one this time this is going to hurt. So I push the threads through and they pop right out. And it hurts. It was very tolerable but pain none the less. I screw the ball on and get a rush because I got to where I wanted to be for now. However, the next three days it was very much like having my tongue pierced all over again. I had to chop foods up real small; I have never put myself on the soup thing for my tongue piercing. I just stressed the point to my tongue. Well anyway, after three days of popping Ibuprofen and eating ice it all cleared up.

And I couldn't have been happier that I took my time, and turned out with a happy, healthy, tongue piercing.

And anything that you want to do with your body that expresses yourself in a clean way, I'd say go for it!

Happy Piercing/Stretching!!!!
