So its two days until christmas day and I got my tongue pierced yesterday! My family and friends thought I was mad to get it done so close to christmas! But hey what better a christmas present, in my opinion anyway! I was tempted to get either my labia or vertical clitoral hood done as my next piercing, but decided against it in the end, as I wanted my tongue done much more!

I'd loved tongue piercings for years and always thought it was great kissing people who had them pierced! Adds interest in my opinion! My boyfriend has his done and I love it! So it got me thinking more and more about getting it done...I'd never really had the guts to go for it before, ever since seeing an episode of bad girls which featured a DIY tongue piercing gone wrong and reading many a horror story in the paper! Putting the stories to the back of my mind, and figuring it couldn't be as painful as I found getting my recent tattoo's, I thought 'why not?!'
I'd had 11 piercings before this one; eyebrow, labret, 8mm stretched lobes, cartilage piercings, among a few others.. Most of them were decided on the spur of the moment, of me going into town and saying to myself 'time for a new piercing, what should i get?!' So I was really excited about this one as it was planned, well planned a day in advance... but nevertheless It was one I'd wanted for a long time! I hadn't had a piercing for 6 months so I was getting a craving for a new one!
My boyfriend was stuck for a present to get me for christmas, and he knew I really wanted it pierced, so he offered to pay for it! I got really excited!! He asked me when I wanted it pierced, and I said as soon as possible! So we organised to go into town the day after!
I was pretty nervous to be honest, but I tried to calm myself by thinking that it would be over pretty quickly, (unlike the tattoo's had been.) My boyfriend kept asking 'are you nervous?' I was indeed! I attempted to calm myself down with my last cig, and oh how I did relish it, before going into the piercers!
After waiting a little bit and looking at a rather interesting book about extreme body modifications I was a little bit more determined and confident about getting a normal centre tongue piercing.
So... I went into the piercing room, I had to swirl mouthwash around my mouth, then got my tongue dried and marked up and I had to check to see whether I thought it was in the right place, was pretty cool to see tongue un-pierced for the last time! My tongue was then dried with cotton wool again and clamped up. Then the needle was pushed upwards, it was a strange sensation! It didn't particularly hurt, it was just the thought of a bar going through my tongue that scared me and I got quite light headed! I swore that blood gushed over my face, although my boyfriend Andy said it didn't! Luckily he was there to hold my hand, I crushed it im sure! I started breathing heavily and Andy and the piercer kept asking 'are you okay, are you okay?!' I could barely answer, wasn't used to a bar of metal in my mouth after all!
I swirled mouthwash around my mouth and we had a chat about aftercare, Straight after leaving the piercers we went to get me a bottle of water, and man I was grateful for it! Andy was surprised I didn't have a lisp, but that arrived a couple of hours later, along with the swelling, so I carried on sipping water and had some soup for tea. Today I got impatient and hungry so I attempted a few biscuits and things! Its really strange and i'm worried about eating the balls! Christmas dinner should be a laugh to try and eat! I cant wait to get used to eating though! It was similar to when I got my labret pierced, so I was expecting it.
I got told I can have a couple of alcoholic drinks a night, wish I'm happy about, it being christmas and all! Don't think its a good idea for me to be smoking though, so think I might just quit all together (new years resolution!),plus better chance of healing and all!
All in all i'm very excited about when it will all be healed. Especially as my boyfriend has his pierced too! Should be fun!!
I would definitely recommend people get it pierced! A week's worth of swelling (so im told, give or take) for a lifetime of fun!!
