My story is about getting my first tongue piercing. You may being thinking, "first?"..., haha, yeah because I plan on getting another one as soon as this one heals.

All of a sudden I realized, "Ive always wanted to get my tongue pierced and now that I live on my own I can do it!".
I did some research on line that morning, found a shop nearby (norwalk tattoo), waited for them to open and went in. They charged about the price I was looking for which was $40, Tori, my piercer, was so cool, laid down some rules and instructions for after care procedure, had me sign a release of liability and told me to "come on to the back!"
Woo doggy, I knew I wasnt scared but for some reason when I saw the needle and clamps the butterflys in my stomach turned into rocks! I wanted it to be a bad dream and not want this! I knew not to be afraid of the pain because SO many others told me it was painless but its really hard to believe that. Have you ever bitten your tongue, its painfull!!!! I read that our tongues are like sponges so there's not alot of pain because the needle goes right threw but I couldnt imagine it.
Tori sat me down on a bench as to what seemed like the ones they have at a doctors office. I sat down and Tori started putting on her gloves and got the stuff out of the packaging. She took a marker out and marked a dot on my tongues then told me open my mouth as wide as I could and stick my tongue out as far as I could. She put the clamp on my tongue and looked for the right spot to put the piercing. I felt a little nervous and kind of regrettful I was doing this. Then Tori told me "Your going to feel a slight pinch okay?" I closed my eyes but felt to scared so I opened them and she still was piercing me. then she faced me, put the needle up to my tongue, then stuck the needle right threw, like butter. almost nothing. Not really any pain just a little pressure. She screwed on the balls to the barrbell said that was it.
A sigh of relief is all I felt, that is untill she asked me if I felt dizzy. I felt fine but she kept asking me over and over like 10 times if I felt weak or anything and the more she said the more I felt I was when I really thought I wasnt. She had me lay down on the doctor bed thingy gave me a piece of chocolate, a cup of water, and put a cold towel on my head. I really just wanted to leave I was so happy it was done. Tori explained to me my body has just gone into shock and that my body is saying it has just expierenced a trauma and is producing alot of endorfins.
I sat up thinking I felt better after a few minutes. She asked me if I felt dizzy or shaky and like before when she said it I got this sense of almost like I was going to collapse but I fought it. My heart was pounding a little hard, I felt a little shaky, my visions looked a little blurry, yet no pain. Just my body thinking whats in my mouth?!!!! o yeah a tongue ring..... weird. yay!
It was finally here. I wanted one years and years ago but my parents refused it and it was finally here. That was a couple days ago. Every one was in awe and thinks Im so cool now. It was so fun. Its like being popular in high school all over again. Everything is awesome. I got some mouth wash and have been rinsing religiously, drinking only juices. Im freaking starving!!! day three of NO FOOD! I tried eating the night of the piercing but bit it twice in the two bites I took so I gave up on that idea. Ive been drinking only shakes and smoothies and I cant wait till it heals up. When this is all over Im going to eat the biggest fattest burger and fries and coke EVER! yeah but Ive already lost a little weight and Ive been having a blast. I realized getting my tongue pierced was the best decision of my life. I have not a single regret and I am absolutley in love with it. I even got a crush on the girl that gave it to me.
As for the swelling I was fine until I tried eating a burrito last night. I ate part of one cause I havent told mymom and I was at her house and she made me food. Ive been able to hide it but she knows I never pass up her burritos. Well I did pretty good until about 45 minutes later my tongue started swelling up. I decided to go home and get the night ready for the next day. I got home and I live about a half hour from my moms, I left my wallet at her house! My tongue was so swollen by this point the barrbell wsa too small! It became sore, and I needed painkillers. I couldnt find mine and had no wallet so couldnt buy any. I was outta water and ice wasnt helping. The pressure became so much I felt dizzy at times and felt like passing out. I had to go straight to bed because I couldnt take the swelling.
In the morning it was still swollen and I had to go to work. I was worried because I dont want my job to find out because they'll probaly tell me to take it out since its not clear. Like I said Ive been able to hide it very well but I could hardly talk it was so swollen. It seriously sounded like I had developed a speech impediment over night, I told my job I was sick which was true because I still felt light headed from the swelling. A couple hours later like magic the swelling reduced about 50% and I could talk normally again thank god. No one at work found out and they let me go home early.
I think the swelling occured because I ate that burrito and the chewing made my tongue move alot. I chewed to the side which felt weird, I dont know if itll always be like that.. I odnt htink so, but I cant wait to eat again, and I love my peircing.
