For about a year I have wanted my tongue pierced and because at 16 I already have a lot people tried to dissuade me from getting it. I have 19 piercings to be exact, an industrial, rook, tragus, nape of the neck, conch x 2, ankles, hips, naval x3, anti-naval, lip, nose, and three others on my ear randomly placed. My tongue is just something I have always been afraid to get, (being in the mouth and all). Besides I had all my piercings done without my parents knowing aside from my lip and the three randomly placed on my ears. I have long hair that I never put up and it's just something they would not expect from me so they do not know. Besides after my lip they refused to let me get anything else done.

For about a month I tried convincing my parents to let me get it done and in that time out of frustration I got a tattoo and my third naval and another conch piercing. They were adamant I was not going to get my tongue pierced because I'm not that kind of daughter... I do not get that either. I love piercings and I really do not see what kind of child does do that.

I started checking up on it about 6 months ago on here and fell in love with it but because I was too scared I did not go and forgot about it until I moved houses.

After the move my friends decided that piercings were cool and decided that they'd all get something pierced. We all went to Tattoos4Life and they all got their piercings while I watched in envy.

After a while living in this new place I noticed that there was this piercing place right around the corner and every time I passed it I thought about getting my tongue pierced, so one day when I had the money I went in filled out the form and sat and waited. For about an hour I was fidgeting and talking to other customers who didn't nearly have as many piercings as I did but they weren't nearly as nervous which freaked me out. After about an hour I made a new friend Cassie who went in with me out of curiosity.

The piercer (Sam) finally called me in. She asked me to sit down and put her gloves on. She checked my tongue for veins and pinched it a bit after a while of talking to her about her piercings she clamped and marked my tongue which was uncomfortable but ok. She pushed the needle through and that was it. I got up to look at my new piercing and it looked great! It was perfect I loved it. There wasn't that much blood and my tongue didn't feel funny so it was all good. Sam gave me a bit of paper with the instructions which she explained quite well she gave me a coke and a £5 voucher for a shorter barbell which I had to come back for in 2 weeks. I paid, thanked Sam and left with Cassie and her new nape piercing and went on my way to my boyfriend's house. I thought if it swelled up first and second day I would just stay there and hopefully it would go down enough for me to talk properly so they wouldn't notice it.

The second I got to see my boyfriend he thought it was sexy and laughed. Apparently because I talk with my mouth closed you can't see it. That night there was very little swelling and although I didn't eat much it was quite easy to eat if I stuffed the food into one side of my mouth. When I went home no one noticed and I had to tell my friends because they couldn't guess so that was pretty good. However, my sister did notice because I yawned but she got exited and thought it was the coolest thing ever (her words not mine) and after that I showed her all my piercings which she also fell in love with. She eventually got some piercings in her ears.

The healing process for your tongue is supposed to be quick and easy which it was and after the third day there was no more swelling and after a week the bar was getting on my nerves way too much and I had to get it changed even though by the fourth day I was ready to change it myself. After that it was even more perfect and now I have something cute to play with which as weird as it is no one else I know has. So it's now my favourite hidden piercing which my parents, three weeks later, still have no idea I have. I love it and if anyone is considering it ... it's totally worth it.
