Well it all started about when I was 15 years old. I was always interested in piercings, like nose, belly and especially tongue piercings. I remember telling my mom "I want a tongue piercing because they look so cute when people are talking." All my mom could say was that I was stupid for wanting to do something like that to my body and it was very dangerous. Especially one night when we were watching TV and we saw a cheerleading in the hospital from swallowing her tongue ring and getting choked off of it while being tossed into the air. But no matter how dangerous it seemed, I wanted it, and wanted it bad too. Two years had passed as I'm 17, and I still wanted my belly piercing. Especially going around school and seeing all of my other friends with piercings.

One day while standing at my locker I noticed that my two best friends had gone to get their tongues pierced. I was so mad because they knew how bad I wanted one and they went without me because they knew I could'nt get one and they didnt want me to risk getting myself in trouble. Maybe it was the best thing to do for then since I really had no plan on hiding it from my parents. But this was all to change once I actually planned how to hide it. Before going to get it done during the summer, I tried to model myself in the mirror, trying to see how to close my mouth so my parents would'nt see it when I would get it done, but in realization, this did'nt work, considering I did'nt know where the actual tongue ring would be. So after work I called up my friend who had gone to get her's done, and we went. I was so nervous on my way up there, but I wanted to get it done and I knew if I didn't get it done then, I would'nt get it done for a very long while. So I sat in the seat with many butterflies in my stomach, waiting for the piercer Marcus to finsih cleaning his utensils. So he told meto rinse and I rinsed for 2 minutes, and then he told me to hold still. I got so nervous I clenched my friends hand so I would'nt be the only one to feel pain. All of a sudden, I felt a quick pinch on the tongue and I was done!!!!

I couldn't believe how much it didn't hurt. But I noticed that there was a stream of blood coming down my shirt, I was so scared. Marcus told me to go rinse and I did and it stopped. I was relieved I finally got it done, but shortly after I wanted to take it out because it hurt so much. I could hardly talk with it. So after we went to Wendy's and I got a large cup of ice to calm down the swelling and pain. I just knew in my mind I was going to get caught, especially by the way I was talking. It was no way my parents wouldn't noticed. When I finally got home, I couldn't eat anything but ice cream and soft foods like soup or cereal. After attempting to eat I went to lay down and watch TV, trying to avoid actually talking to my parents as much as I could. After about three days, my swelling went down a bit, where I could actually talk. I could'nt believe I was actually talking my parents though, like I had real long conversations though. After my swelling went down all the way, I noticed that my tongue would bleed at random times, but I called Marcus and he said everything was fine and it was just a part of the healing process. Which this turned out to be true, I just didn't want me to be talking to my parents or my boss and my mouth just start randomly bleeding. This finally stopped after about 3 weeks and I was fine.

I could'nt wait to change my ball and I couldn't believe how slick I was with getting away with it from my parents. But this all came to an end a week later. I was in an argument with my mom and she saw the tongue ring. I was in a lot of trouble with her. Surprisingly my dad wasn't that mad because he didn't care what piercings or tattoo's I got just as long as I told him. But my dad was mad at the fact that I didn't even tell him first and that my mom specifically told me no when I was 15, which he didn't know. So my mom made me take it out and grounded me for a month, but luckily I had 2 spare tongue rings that were hard to see and my dad got me off punishment early, making it only two weeks.

My mom was mad, but she got over it like a week later because she knows that I usually don't do these types of things, but she still hates tongue rings though. The funny thing is my dad actually told me he knew I had one all along, because he saw it in my mouth a couple of times while I was talking to him. I can't believe all that time I thought I was being slick, I really wasn't and I looked and felt so stupid. In the end, I still have my piercing on the down low and I'm going to ask for permission to get tattoo's or other piercings at least until I'm 18 years old. If anyone wants to get it I reccommend it.
