So I just turned 18, and I had to do something! I've wanted my tongue pierced for a while but I never had the guts to do it. I go to a very conservative college in southern Kentucky. A girl on my team and I were talking and we both decided that we had to do it. We made plans and they got canceled...then we made more plans...then they got canceled. Finally we found a ride with an older girl on our team who got her nipple done. It was hard to find a shop because of the area, but we found one about 20 minutes away. WE walked in and a guy asked us.

"So who wants to get stabbed?"

I raised my hand right away, and smiled. They made sure we had ID, and everything. So we were there and started filling out the forms until we realized that we needed cash... so we were off to find an ATM. We drove around looking for one, the BP didn't of course so we had to go almost all the way back to the highway! 20 minutes later we were back and ready. We talked to some people in the shop wail our piercer was getting ready. I told them It was my first piercing ever, and we spoke about their various tattoos and piercings. Everyone said that the tongue was nothing. We debated for a minute over who would go first.

My friend went first and I held her hand, then I was up. I swished with the Listerine for 2 minutes and then the guy had a look at my tongue. He picked out a bar and put on the clamps. They didn't hurt at all. I grabbed my friends hand and i felt the tip of the needle but that was it! Then I thought it was all over.

He put the balls on and then the clamp would not come off! First he called his boss into the room. His boss put on gloves and said thats easy! Then both of these guys had their hands in my mouth trying to free a clamp that was to small. First they unscrewed the top ball, and it fell back into my throat. I coughed it up, and everyone started laughing. The last thing I wanted them to do was to take the bar out, that would hurt so bad to put back in. I had no idea what was going on, they kept telling me it was nothing but I thought they were lying to me. Both guys kept apologizing to me, and the other people started talking about how its my first piercing(not even my ears!) and how I'm a trooper for dealing with it. I just kept my eyes closed and tried to keep my tongue out which was hard because i just wanted it all over with. Finally it was done and the clamp was off. I got high fives all around. A large group accumulated once the piercer had to call for help. Everyone wanted to see and there was only so much room in the doorway. The owner offered me a discount on any ink I'd want in the future. I had my pretty new tongue piercing that i still can't stop looking at.

Once the excitement was over it was time for my friend to get her nipple done. The piercer shooed everyone away from the door way. I think a few of the guys wanted to see her rack but he was nice enough to give her a little bit of privacy. Her piercing was a little more painful so i gather but thats another story!

On the way home I tried to eat a Oreo McFlurry but it didn't work. The little bits kept getting stuck and I kept pulling on the bar. It's kind of sore now, I've had it for two hours now. I'm kind of worried that the bar is not long enough, and it also bothered me that the jewelry they used was externally threaded...but I didn't want to say anything about it then. It may be my first piercing but I've loved them for a long time now and I know a lot about them. If it is to short of a bar I'll go back and complain. The people there were really nice and I'm sure if theres a problem they'll take care of me. Overall I'm not to sure about this place. The people were really inviting, VERY nice. But then again they didn't seem to knowledgeable about piercing. The jewelry is externally threaded, and not much aftercare instruction was given to my friend or I about our tongues or my friends new nipple. I was able to give her a little advise on the ride home about how to care for her new piercing but only time will tell how good of an idea it was for me not to speak up about my problems with their shop. I know it wasn't smart but I know how to take care of it and hopefully all will go well.
