So, my story starts out when I was 16. It was the summer before entering grade 11 in high school. I had met this girl, this AMAZING girl, who I had a huge crush on..And she was very gay, and everyone wanted a chance to be with her etc. She had her tongue pierced as well as her eyebrow and navel, and then there was me, the girl with her ears pierced. I was living at home, at the time, so I asked my mum's permission to get my tongue pierced. She flat out said no, so I pushed and pushed and pushed. She finally caved, and told me I could get it done, but asked why I wanted it done. I told her simply, that I thought it'd look cool. I didn't tell her about the girl I had met, and how I wanted to have as much in common with her as possible! I look back now and that was the DUMBEST reason to get pierced..EVER.

I made an appointment at Krystal Blade Tattoo to get my tongue pierced. I had done some work for my god-mother around her house, because I didn't have a job at the time, and I needed money to pay for my tongue piercing, so she drove me, and paid for it. My piercer was awesome, I don't remember his name, but he was a tall, skinny guy, with blonde hair, and piercings everywhere! He told me to wash my mouth out with mouthwash, and spit and then to sit down. I did, he then told me to stick my tongue out, and wiped it off and clamped it. At this point, I was getting really nervous, mostly about the pain. It was kind of funny, my god-mother was so...in "awe" about it all, she was up close, too close..so close the piercer had to ask her to back up a little! So I closed my eyes, because I didn't want to watch it. The next thing I knew, it was done! It didn't hurt AT ALL. It hurt more to get my ears pierced! I was so proud, and I couldn't stop looking at it in the mirror. When I showed my mum, she made a totally grossed out face and went on a small rant about how gross it was, and how I shouldn't have gotten it done, but as long as I didn't play with it in front of her, she wouldn't say anything. A week or so later, the girl I had met was having a party, and I was invited. She noticed this piercing right away...Long story short, we dated for a year!

Then this summer, my boyfriend had just gotten his FIRST piercing, his tongue, and I remember how much fun it is to get a new piercing. So I began to think about it, I decided I was bored, and that I needed something else pierced. So I did some research, and after a few weeks I booked an appointment at Dragon and Butterfly to get my tongue pierced, again! I was so excited, but not nervous this time, because I knew what to expect...or so I thought. So, I went in for my appointment, and paid, and sat down in the piercing chair. My piercer, a beautiful girl, with some amazing body art looked at my tongue, and said she didn't feel comfortable doing it, because of the placement of the tongue that I already had, so she got the owner of the studio. He came and looked at it, and laughed saying "We should have charged you more.." So apparently, it was going to be a difficult job.It took them almost 15 minutes to decide how to go about it. They finally decided on doing it behind my existing tongue piercing. Once they finally got my tongue clamped, they told me to take a deep breath, and then...OW. It hurt SO much...my heavens, my first one didn't hurt NEARLY that much. But it was done, I looked at it, and I didn't really like it. The barbell that it had been pierced with was ugly, my tongue was swollen, and they were so close together! I was very disappointed, and to make matters worse, over the next week or so, I wasn't able to eat anything! But, I did lose 10 lbs...It's an easy weight loss solution!!

About 3 weeks after get the piercing, I changed the balls on the new barbell to just plain old silver stainless steel ones. I hesitated before I looked in the mirror, but when I finally did...I loved it! The swelling had gone down, the balls matched and they didn't look AS close together.

Since then I've considered taking one out, not because it's a bad piercing, or because it hurts or anything, I'm just bored again...time for a new piercing maybe?

Anyway, that was my story!
