The urge to get my tongue pierced was probably obtained about a year ago, my junior year in high school. I had a friend who had hers done, and I thought it was awesome. I had never really thought seriously about getting it done though, because I didn't think I would be able to go through with it, even though I had met more people with it, who told me that it was really no big deal, and didn't hurt.

I then about two weeks ago, was talking to a girl at work who had recently gotten it done, and I guess she kind of sealed the deal, and convinced me to get it done. She was telling me all about it, and said that it didn't hurt, and the healing process what pretty short. After that I searched google and got some information about it, read a bunch of stories about it, and asked my parents if I could get it done. My mom agreed(I live with her, so she would have been the one taking me), but she told me to ask my dad. I asked him, and at first he was kind of reluctant, but he said yes because it isn't permanent, and it isn't very easily seen.

So I called around a couple of places, and found one about a half hour from me. I had to have my mom come with me since I'm underage, so she brought me after school on wednesday. The whole ride there, I was kind of nervous, but not as nervous as I thought I would be, it was kind of like I was waiting to get nervous, and start to reconsider, but I never did.

We went it, and the place was great. It was extremely clean, and the staff was very nice. I got the piercing, my mom and I showed our ID, and then into the piercing room it was. He marked my tongue, I checked the spot in the mirror, and he then put on the clamps. They didn't really hurt, even though he said they might. Then came the needle. It was extremely fast, and didn't really hurt at all. He tightened the ball, and let me look in the mirror. He then talked to me about taking care of it, and gave me some stuff to rinse my mouth with. I checked it in the mirror, and immediately loved it.

That night it didn't really hurt bad, and didn't swell too much. It started to hurt a little later though, because I had gone to a hockey game and was yelling, and using my tongue the whole time. I woke of the next morning, and all the pain was gone. It was like I had never even got it done. Brushing my teeth was a little weird, but easy. I couldn't wait to get to school to show it off.

Throughout the day, it only swelled a little, and didn't really hurt at all. My speech was really affected to much either. I went through the day fine, and then friday was the same day, but with even less pain. Today(saturday) being the 3rd day I've had it, I'm extremely surprised at how well this has turned out. There was almost no pain at all, and very little, to no swelling. I'm actually becoming annoyed with the size of the bar, because I don't need the amount of length it provides.

I've been using the rinse I was given religiously after every time I eat, and I think that is helping a huge amount. I also don't smoke, so I haven't had to worry about that.

Eating has also been very easy for me. The first night I was able to eat solid foods, and that only got easier as the days went on. I can chew normal again, I just still kind of have to focus on keeping my tongue centered while I eat, because my swelling has gone down, and I'm sometimes finding the top ball in with my food. I asked the piercer if it was ok to chew gum or not, and he said no, but that was one rule I couldn't follow. I've been chewing gum, and I don't find it hard at all. I think that actually helped me with getting the feel of chewing down better.

Overall, this piercing has gone very well. The piercer said I have to wait a month until I can change it, but in two weeks if I think it is completely healed, I'm going to go back and get his opinion, and see if I can change the bar. I hope I can, so that I don't have worry about biting this one.

And also, it's crazy how much girls are attracted to this piercing, I highly recommend for guys, haha.
