Ok so here it is, this is my second time writing to BME and will not be my last. I've always wanted to get my tongue pierced, in fact, it was going to be my first piercing, but the place where I went would not pierced it because it was "to small". So I got my eyebrow done twice and my labret done as my first few. I got to thinking how I really wanted my tongue done and it made me kind of mad that he told me no, so I call up a place called Inkwell. They told me to come on in and they would check my tongue out to see if it was abel to be pierced. Like always my parents said, no, you have three already! So I just keep asking and asking until they finally agreed! They thought I was not going to be able to get it done anyways, so they really didn't mind taking me to get it check out.

I just keep nodding my head and smiling, waiting to get there. I only took about 30 min. and we were in the parking lot. The place was full with people, so we had to wait a little bit to be helped. About 10 min. later, this guy(I found out later his name was Jay)asked us what we needed so my mom explained the whole problem about my tongue being short and all that. He asked my to lift my tongue up and he checked it out and also had me stick my tongue out as far as I could. He told me it would not be a problem to pierce it and who ever told me it couldn't be done was stupid!
He had my mom and I fill out some papers that said he couldn't be blamed if something bad happend, which only took about 3 minutes. We walked around and looked at some tattoos while he set up and got ready, and he called me behind the counter. I didn't no they pierced you in front of everyone, but that didn't bother me to bad. I sat in this chair that reminded me of a dentist and he told me what he was going to do. Jay said that I could eat and drink what ever I wanted, and if it hurt, don't do it again. I said that I could live with that and he said just to have common sense. He told me to stick out my tongue for he could mark it, and he lifted it three or four times to look for veins, and marked it with a purple marker. Jay told me to check it out and see if it was in a fine spot, and it was, so he told me to sallow once more and stick my tongue out again. After I did this he put the clamps on and tole me that I would have to be pierced a little bit with a slant and I told him that was fine with me. He put the needle up to my tongue and asked if I was ready.
I nodded my head and he shoved the needle through and it did hurt some, which later he said was because my tongue was small, and I tasted blood and he told me that I would not bleed long. He put the barbell in the needle and pulled the needle through and screwed the bottom ball on. Yes, I did drool a little, but he told me that everyone does, and told me to put my tongue into my mouth. The barbell was really long so it felt strange, but after I looked in the mirror, I didn't care. It was awsome.
I went to pay and Jay was telling me that I had to use mouthwash and clean it after ever time I ate and at least 5-6 times a day for the first month or two. I paid my $40 and said thank you, which was funny and made everyone laugh because I had a little trouble talking at first. Before we left, Jay told me to go get ice water directly after this to help the swelling, so of course I did.
We had to go to Wal-Mart and get mouth wash and we both had a good laugh about my talking and my slurring of words. I got home and just ate ice and drunk water. I couldn't really eat anything for a day or two, and the first time I washed my mouth out burned like you know what! My swelling was not to bad, and only lasted about 3 days. I could talk after the swelling went down, but it took me a while to say my "s's" and "t's" , but I learned in time.
Its been about one month and it is all healed, and I put a shorter barbell in about 2 weeks later. I can eat, talk, and do everything else just fine. At first it hit the back of my teeth pretty bad, but when I put the shorter bar in, it was fine.
My advice, if you want to get your tongue pierced, go for it!! It doesn't hurt to bad(on a scale of 1-10 about a 3) and it looks awsome! If your near Inkwell, go there, they are really nice and no what they are doing! So good luck and e-mail me if you have any questions about it!
