My experience started while I was doing my military basic training. Before it, I had never really been interested in piercing or tattooing and I never had any thought about this domain. But in my company, there was a girl (which is quite rare in the army in Switzerland!) that had a couple of piercings. One of them was a centre tongue piercing that she liked to show off. Firstly I found it very weird and disgusting, but after a few chats with her, I changed my mind about it and found it quite interesting and exciting. What I liked in this piercing is that she was able to hide it when necessarily and that she could show it when she felt like it. She also told me that it was a strange, but great feeling playing with it.

I kept thinking about this piercing for a few weeks but did not feel like getting one. I was mainly afraid of the reaction of my parents and friends, because by this time, piercings were not as popular as today and only "strange" people got them. But as time went on, I could not stop thinking about this incredible piercing and was badly thinking about getting one. The only problem was where would I find a piercing studio? A friend told me about a studio, but unfortunately it was not in my city and without a car, I would not be able to go there. And if I wanted my parents's car, I would have to explain them why I wanted to go to this place, and I did not want them to know.

By this time I was really thinking I would not be able to get one before a long, long time. But one day, while we were having a night out in the nearest town near the military camp, I found a shop where they did piercings. Unfortunately it was already 7.30 pm and the shop was already closed! But that did not discourage me, because I knew that in a few week time, we would have a longer sortie that would start in the middle of the afternoon and then, I would certainly be able to get my tongue pierced. Up to this free afternoon, I could not stop thinking about it and started thinking about what I would explain to my military mates to be able to go there alone, without them knowing it. Finally the day came and we arrived in this town around 3 pm. We went to have a beer on a terrace and then I told them I had to go to the post office to pay some bills. Luckily, no one wanted to come with me. They all had better to do: drink beer! So I hurried up to this shop and asked the man at the desk if I could get a tongue piercing. Unfortunately he did not speak either French or German! So it took a few minutes until he understood what I wanted. And then he brought me to the piercer. The man was very nice and explained me the procedure with the few words of German he knew. Then came the piercing: he took all the sterilized equipment, drew the entrance and exit points of the needle, asked me if I was happy with the emplacement and clamped my tongue. The needle went through my tongue very quickly and I did not even feel any pain! Then came the barbell and it was already over. I could not believe it when I saw my pierced tongue. I did it! He then gave me an instruction sheet for the after-care, I paid him and hurried up to go back to my mates.

When I was back with my friends, we had a couple of drinks and it felt so weird: I had the feeling that I was not able to drink normally! After a few draughts I was able to drink correctly, but then came the pizza! I thought I would never be able to eat it totally. But after like 45 minutes, I had finished it and nobody noticed my piercing. We then went from bar to bar and I tried to follow the instructions from my piercer not to have alcohol, but I was almost forced to drink a couple of beers, otherwise the others would have certainly found this strange.

By the end of the evening my tongue was totally swollen, but it was not very painful. I washed as good as possible my mouth with a special solution and everything went fine. After three to four days, the size of my tongue was back to normal and it was again possible for me to eat proper food without any pain.

Luckily nobody at home realized I got my tongue pierced! I told a couple of friends about it and they found it great. One of them even decided to get one as well a few months later. I kept mine a couple of years and then took it out. Since three years now, I put it back when I feel like having something in my mouth to play with. Luckily the hole stays open, even if I do not wear any barbell for a couple of weeks.

I would really recommend this great piercing for anyone who would like to get a modification but is not able to show it off to anyone. The only problem with piercings is that you get addicted! One year after getting my tongue pierced, I was craving to get a new piercing. I then decided to get my navel pierced, which could also be easily hidden. But since then, I have not gotten any new body modification. Lately I have been thinking about getting either a new piercing or a tattoo. The holidays are coming soon and I will certainly get something new: either a surface navel piercing or maybe a PA. Watch out for my next report!
