Okay, first things first. I wouldn't take anything I say as advice on what to do as my body is my body, not yours. If you wish to treat your body the same as I do, then do so at your own risk.

Alright, now that that is out of the way.
I had always wanted my tongue pierced since it became all popular all of a sudden (I am not a mainstream whore..) but never got around to doing it as I went to a private school and it just wouldn't work with the school and such.
Eventually after leaving school I started to get into piercings and what-not and kept looking at the tongue piercing as a rather good option to start off on. (This coming from a person that runs from needles in doctors..)
I decided to investigate the information available online. My god there is a LOT of information online about piercings, I didn't realise there would be so much, it was really good to read all the things that could go wrong and such as I am an overly-worried person and I wanted to know what would happen if it did happen.
After around 2-3 months of thinking about it, I rang up and booked it in... oh how scared I was when I hung up.
2 days had to pass, while I was at home excited, but more nervous and scared about the pain, eventually the day came, I got up, has a light breakfast as I didn't want to throw up all over the piercer and went out to get it done.
I arrived at the piercer, nervous as hell and was handed a clipboard with the 'Sign-your-life-away' document. You know the one, that say something like "I hereby let the piercer stab me to death and I will take no legal action"? Well, you get the picture. I sat down in the couch (couch! Comfy.) and filled in the forms... time passes... SLOWLY.... I messaged my girlfriend but she was driving so she didn't get the message, but yeah, you know.
So I get called in, she talks to me all calm and pulls out the gear on the tray... Whilst I am sittng there eye-ing the tray thinking "Oh god what have I got myself into?!". She explained what would happen and everything to expect, she told me it wouldn't hurt, and to not be so worked up, she marked my tongue and I wanted it closer to the tip, so she moved the mark, and I agreed it was a good place to have it done.
She pulled out the clamp and clamped my tongue, then reached for a towel and put it on my lap.. I asked what it was for and she grinned an evil grin... Oh god, I freaked out man. I have never been so scared. Then she told me it was only for saliva, as your tongue is out and yeah, well, that's a relief.
She lined the needle up, I closed my eyes, millions of thoughts going everywhere and then she pierced my tongue and pulled out the needle, leaving the clear tube in. Okay, that hurt a little, not all that much. But I wouldn't complain.
She then put the bar in, screwed the other ball on, and it was done.
Woah, I felt awesome! Light-headed, but AWESOME! I stuck my tongue out and looked in the mirror, it was purty, I loved it. I was so proud of myself, but at that time, I was light-headed, so I laid down for a bit, letting the light-headedness wear off, when it did, I paid, and was on my way.
Okay, so maybe half an hour later, I arrived at the shops, and noticed in the mirror of my car that my tongue was a little yellow/black, I thought it was just discolouration so I ignored it.
Once inside, I purchased a coke to drink as I was in shock and needed the sugar, and some hot chips, as they are a great food source. I ate them all well and good but my tongue felt a little weird.
Jump to the next day.
Swollen... owwie... owww....swollen... can't speak properly, don't particularly feel like eating, just felt like taking the bar out and dying in the corner, but oww.. the swelling is so much more painful than the piercing for sure, I will never ever complain about pain being that bad because the swelling hurt like a bitch.
Well, all in all, that's about it, the swelling went down after around a week, which was pretty cool, so I wasn't too hungry for long. If you are considering getting your tongue pierced, get it done! Don't let what I say scare you, I know plenty of people that got their tongue down and they didn't swell or have any pain, which, I do envy and which it was me. But you know, we can't all be lucky.
