I have been interested in body modification for years now, ever since I was 13. At 13, I got my first piercing (the navel), and I fell in love. After that, I kind of went crazy with things. I went from all kinds of ear piercings, to eyebrows, to a second & third navel piercing. But at the glorious age of 15, I decided that it was time for the big one...the tongue.

I begged my mom for it for at least 6 months before the piercing took place. My dad didn't really care, but my mom hated the idea. I did everything I could. I washed her dishes non-stop. I cleaned the house. I wanted that piercing so bad. Then one day, my parents were having an argument, and my mom wasn't in the best of mood, so I decided that I'd ask her once and for all, right then and there. I went upstairs, and asked her. She said she didn't care. She said she didn't care about anything anymore. I was so happy! I gave her a hug, ran downstairs, and asked my dad to take me up to the parlor today. He agreed, and we left.

On the car ride there, I started getting nervous. I kept thinking to myself "what am I doing?!", but I pushed myself to keep going. My dad was laughing at me the whole way there because he could tell that I was nervous.

Once we got there, I calmed down a little bit. There were other people in there getting tattoos, and various things. Ravi (the piercer) came to the front desk and asked us if there was anything we needed done. Before I could get a word out, my dad pointed to me and said "She wants her tongue done." I could feel my face get hot, and I just nodded. Ravi said alright, and he went back to the piercing room to get everything sterile. My dad and I just waited on the couch for him to come back.

He came back out in like 5 minutes, and told me to follow him. I looked at my dad, and my dad just smiled. I started getting really really nervous. I walked behind Ravi into the piercing room. It was extremely sterile, which I liked, and he told me to sit on a doctors-bed-looking thing. So I did.

He told me to just relax (which was hard for me to do), but I tried. He told me to stick my tongue out as far as I could, so I did. He took a paper towel and dried my tongue off, and it felt uncomfortable being all dry. He told me not to stick it back in my mouth. He then marked my tongue. After that, he took clamps and put them on my tongue, which felt really uncomfortable. They were the worst part in the whole piercing. I closed my eyes for (what felt like) only one second, and I felt pressure. I started thinking that it was going to hurt so bad. I then felt him fiddling with the top of my tongue, and then he took the clamps off! I thought he was going to do the piercing free-hand!! He then told me that I could put it back in my mouth, and I opened my eyes and I had a big steel bar through my tongue, and I didn't even know he did the piercing! I had a hard time getting it back in my mouth because of my teeth, but I finally got it in. I went to look in the mirror at it, and it was beautiful! R ight where I wanted it to be. There was a spot of blood, but I closed my mouth, and opened it again and the blood was gone. I came out and showed my dad, and he couldn't believe that I went through with it. I thanked Ravi, paid him, and we left.

The aftercare was quite interesting. We went straight from the tattoo parlor, to Right Aid and I got some Biotene. I took extra good care of this piercing, thus it turned out so great! It was swelled for the first day, and the second day, but the third day, I could eat again, and the pain wasn't too intense. A week & 1/2 later, I went and got the long barbell taken out, and got a short one in. Not even a week after that, the piercing was healed. I could change the rings with no pain, and I loved it.

About a year later, I got it gauged to a 10. So now all I wear for tongue rings are 10g barbells.

Two years later, I'm still loving this piercing. It's still my favorite, out of all my mods. I still hear people say things like "You'll take it out, in time."....But I don't believe them. I think I'll have this piercing until I die.
