Ok so this is a story about my first 'hardcore' piercing.

I've had my first holes done twice and then two more in each ear, my nose twice, my tongue, my lip and my belly and iv had two tattoos on my back.
I first wanted my tongue pierced when I was about 12 but obvisouly I couldnt because of the age restrictions and stuff. My parents are sooo laid back when it comes to this stuff so they are always supportive when I come home with another piercing or tattoo.
So when I turned 18 I thought hey why not? My friend had hers done but she had some complications with it which kinda put me off, (when she got hers pierced she pulled her tongue back but luckily the woman piercing her took the needle out fast enough). but after encouragment from my friends I was ready to do it.
So during the half term me and my two friends drone to the piercing and tattoo studio. I chose this studio because Ive had other piercings there and I know they are recommended.
The Piercing
So I went into the studio which when you walk in hits you with that horrible antiseptic smell so it basically smells like a hospital. Which is always good as you know its clean, and as it was the morng the place was fairly empty so I filled in the form and no sooner had I signed my name then the woman was saying "ok, you can come in"
This is when I got reallly nervous but my friend was allowed in with me but he did have to pratically had to hold me down. I love piercings but I hate pain and turn into a complete wimp, "how long?" "will it hurt" "warn me when you are gonna do it" and so on.
So I sat on the big dentist style chair and she asked me to bend my tongue so she could check for veins using a little torch. She found that I had a vein running down on the centre of my tongue but she said that was ok as she could pierce it slightly to the right.
So once that was done she asked me to rinse out my mouth with this horrible mouthwash stuff that burnt my mouth to hell and back. So then after cleaining I sat back down and watched as she put on gloves and took the needle out of the packaging and got the bar ready.
Before the piercing she told me that because the needle is so sharp I will have to make sure that I keep my tongue out. It is the tongues natural reaction to go back, like when you bite it but she siad if I were to do that then the needle would slice my tongue in half :s
She asked me to sit back and stick out my tongue, so holding my friend's hand I stuck out my tongue as she clamped it. "ready?" "uhuh" I mumbled and then she pushed the needle through from the bottom upwards and I can just say now that it is one of the least painful piercings ever! getting my ears pierced hurt a heck of lot more!
So once the bar was through (didnt feel that at all) she told me how to clean it and gave me an aftercare sheet and I paid her, thanked her and left.
In the days that followed....
although this was the least painful piercing the aftermath is horrible! my tongue swelled up so huge I could barely talk and as far as eating pah!!! For the first week I could barely manage soup coz your tongue is so sore and swollen and you dont actually realise just how much you use your tongue when eating. But my friend told me that the faster you learn to eat with a tongue bar the quicker the sweling goes down so after a week he forced me to eat an entire roast dinner in front of him. Took me about two hours but I did it! :D
but after about a week and a bit my tongue went back to normal and i was able to talk and eat fine. Its been 6 months since i had it sone and iv changed it and it was fine and I love this piercing so much!! Im so used to it that when people ask about it takes me a while to realise that I have got my tongue pierced!
Although the healing period is a bitch I recommened this piercing 100% :D
