Ever since my first piercing I knew I was addicted. I thought I'd just get one and be done with it. But boy was I wrong. My need for piercings turned from a small wanting to a strong urge. I wanted to express myself through my piercings. And it all started with my tongue web.

I loved the fact that I could hide it from everyone, but still know that it's something that I had done, and it was a part of me. But the thing is, I never planned on getting my tongue web pierced.
I planned on my first piercing being a centered tongue piercing. But when I went to have it pierced I was told some bad news. My damn tongue is short for a tongue piercing. That sucked. I couldn't believe that my tongue was too fucking short to be pierced. Needless to say I left disappointed.
To make a long story short, after a week of looking on site for alternative piercings, I discovered tongue web piercings. After seeing it I knew I had to have it. So I got it. It didn't hurt and it was a very interesting experience.
I've had it for about 4 or 5 months now. But recently i've had an urge to get some more mods. After 9 piercings and 2 tattoos, I just don't think the urge is ever going to go away. I went to my normal piercer, Autumn Spinks, at Warlock's. Just a little information about the shop: It's extremely clean every time and Autumn is very experienced and knowledgeable. I don't trust anyone but her to do my piercings. In fact, I want to apprentice under her, but that's a totally different story.
After telling her that I needed something new done that was a bit out of the ordinary, not necessarily a new piercing, she suggested stretching my tongue web. I never thought it was possible. I was initially pierced at a 16ga and she told me that my web's anatomy was suited to stretch to a 14ga and maybe even a 12ga. I thought about it for a while and decided to go with it.
She took me back to the piercing room and had me open my mouth as wide as I could. She took out the 16ga micro barbell that was in already and put it in a bag for me. She got a phone call and walked out for a minute. When she came back she got out a 14ga taper and put the end to my web.
Now, I'm no stranger to stretching. I've stretched my septum from a 12ga to a 6ga and I've stretched my lobes from 12ga to 2ga. My septum stretches were the worst by far. So I was kind of expecting my web stretch to feel like a lobe stretch, but a little less painful. I was right.
She made me take a deep breath in and then exhale. She made me do this three times. Breathe in and exhale. Breathe in and exhale. On the third exhale, she pushed the taper through. It was a small jerk and no pain at all. She left the taper in my mouth for about a minute while the 14ga curved barbell was cleaned. She removed the taper and put in barbell. And that was it. I now had a 14ga curved barbell in my mouth, along with a pair of pretty big balls.
After everything was done, we talked about a lingual frenectomy, a procedure where the tongue web is cut out to increase the length of the tongue. She told me that she could do it. I was amazed that she could and told her I'd be back in a week to have it done, especially after she told me she'd do it for me for free as long as I got a tongue piercing down the road. I asked her how painful it would be and she told me it wasn't painful at all because they use a cautery pen to literally burn the web off, which also eliminates the need for sutures. After her explanation I knew I had to have it done. Anyway, enough of this little tangent.
It took a while to get used to having such big balls in my mouth (insert joke here), but I eventually got the hang of it. They'd catch on my teeth on occasion, but I trained my mouth to stop it. Even though I'm going to lose the piercing altogether in a few days, I'm glad I did it. I never knew it was possible and I'm sure i'm one of the very few who have ever had such a thing done, which makes me very proud.
As for anyone considering having their web piercing or stretched, go for it. It's a really easy piercing and it can be hidden. And if you're in the Raleigh area, definitely go by and check out warlock's. I promise Autumn will take good care of you because she's one of the piercers around that actually cares about her customers, and not just their money.
