I would generally class myself as having a low pain tolerance, like if i stubbed my toe I'd cry and sulk for hours. I've had the regular tongue piercing done for about six months and loved it, and had it in the back of my mind that I was going to go get another one.

It's your attitude to pain that controls how much it's going to hurt. If you focus on it and forget the fact that your choosing to go through this pain it would hurt, but if you remember you're there of your own free will and it's going to look kick-ass afterwards it's a walk in the park :)
A girl at work had showed me the piercing on the underside on her tongue and my first reaction was WOW that's a stupid piercing, what kind of stupid slut would get that pierced? Unfortunately I said that out loud and our friendship never recovered.
I told my friend at school about it ages ago and then completely forgot about it. Skip forward a couple of months and it was my friends birthday I had no idea what to get her, she had mentioned wanting to get that piercing I had mentioned so I paid for her to get it done. All went well for her it looked good to me and we all lived happily ever after, roasting chipmunks on the fire.
I was at Strathpine shops one day and nothing I tired on fitted me so I got all depressed and had a milk shake, then I thought HEY I got money I have a tongue put two and two together man and walk over the road and get it done. All of my piercings (the whopping four of them, rook, standard tongue & web and navel) had been spurs of the moment and getting my frenum pierced (as the lady called it) was no different. I suppose that's not entirely true, I do look at this site a lot and originally got the idea from here :) ^_^ tra la la
I walked in told her what I wanted done filled out that little card and then she ducked under the counter to find a bar to fit. The first one she picked up had the most massive balls I have ever seen on such a tiny little bar. I took one look at this odd little bar and asked her to get another one out. It was going to be sitting underneath my tongue and I thought big balls might be a bit of a nuisance. I wish there was another word for balls.
She took me to the back room, I sat down on the chair and she told me to suck my tongue to the roof of my mouth. I did then she massaged a little numbing cream onto it. That is probably the most uncomfortable part of this whole procedure, the taste of that cream mixed with the latex gloves. gag.
The next thing I know she picks up the needle pushes it through (I feel nothing) picks up the bar and puts it through and all went well. When my friend had it done (by the same piercer as me) she had a little trouble putting the balls on the bar but I was told this didn't make the experience anymore painful, it's just a fiddly job.
I walked out of there my tongue was a little sore to move but i could still lift it up and show it off. It didn't really effect eating much but it was a little touchy for a few days. I snagged in a couple of times whilst eating and it was uncomfortable but nothing serious.
This is an awesome piercing, people either love it or hate it but you will get a reaction :) It's easy to hide from the parentals unless you go up and start singing LA LA LA in their face like I did. Stupid move. Anyway, if your considering this STOP.. and just go and do it, don't spend time getting anxious just grab it by the balls and go in there and DO IT!!
However just recently, as in today I noticed I have ripped the skin on the side of my frenum piercing. This is probably due to pushing it constantly with my other tongue piercing. Even then it's not too bad but a bit of an inconvenience none the less. If you already have the standard tongue piercing may I suggest not poking it into the side of your tongue web piercing, the two metals touch and it irritates it. This makes no sense now but if you get it done you'll know exactly what I mean mmmkay..
