This is a story of a girl and her smiley. I hope you enjoy.
At A Glance Author Woo Woo Contact Woo Woo@bme.anon When Three months ago I had seen very few pictures of people with smiley's and nobody in person, but the second I saw one I knew I had to have it. I believe the first picture that I saw with a person with a smiley was a girl she was some what plain but her smiley made me envy her simple beauty. I am rather plain looking too and my other piercing's are not too girly. Everyone tells me I have a pretty smile so why not make one of my best features stand out. With the exception of still wanting a Monroe, it made my facial piercing's feel complete. Male or female everybody should consider getting one.
I have straight teeth, which everyone should take in to mind when getting this piercing. My friend got a smiley after I did and her teeth were not totally straight and it caused it to rip out because it did not lay flat enough. She has a pretty smile but it is not only needing a pretty smile to make it work. Your two top front teeth must be straight, or you'll risk losing your cool new piercing. Which would be a shame because I'm sure you will be in as much love with it as I am.
The piercing procedure itself was completely painless. For me it bled a good amount, but my friend did not bleed at all. Everyone has different ideas what painless is and what a good amount of blood is, but I am trying to put myself in the place of others and I really do not think it would cause pain for anyone. The only annoying part is putting in the captive ring, I left a 14g curved eyebrow barbell in for the first week or so then once healed I put a 16g captive ring in. the smaller gauge is a little more comfortable. I have a total of four piercing in and around my mouth (two in my lip one centered and one on the right, one a hoop and one a stud, a tongue ring and my smiley) and none have ever even come close to getting caught on it and pulling it out. The first week with a ring it is a little uncomfortable and made my lip feel like it was sticking out but that will go away and you will not even notice it.
Now I have had it for two and a half months, it feels normal and I have almost no worries about pulling it out. The smiley is only held in by a very thin web that connects you lip to your gums so I was worried about how long it would last. To make sure I can have it for as long as I wanted, I pierced it down as low as possible with it still being in sturdy. When the day come that it rejects I will have room to pierce above it. Taking care of a smiley is as easy or easier than a tongue ring. An antiseptic mouth wash is totally a must and should be used daily. When I brush my teeth I'm already in the habit of brushing all my oral piercing's. To me things can never be too clean, especially piercing's. It's defiantly easy to take care of.
Before I got this piercing I looked into any potential problems, which everyone should do when interested in any piercing. There was not too much info on the piercing but what I did find most commonly which has not been a problem for me at least yet, was people mentioning problems with the enamel on the teeth being damaged. Since I am aware of that I watch for it. No signs of it yet. But I could imagine how upsetting that would be.
I love the attention I get with it. Everyone asks how it that connected, so I show them. Most people think it's my teeth that are pierced ( like I hooked a ring around one of my teeth). I talk to at least two people a day that asks me "What is that piercing, Can I see it?" so I smile all cute for them and tell them how it works. Also I smile big with teeth showing in every photo I take, which I did not always do before I got a smiley. I have pretty teeth and a pretty smile and my smiley makes me more confident showing both of them off. My hubby hated the idea at first but now he loves it because of how much I smile.
All and all I love it!!! Out of my 10 piercing's it's by far my favorite. I Would recommend it for anyone with low pain tolerance, or anyone who loves their teeth and smile. : D
