I've wanted to get my webbing pierced for a few months now. My friend had it done last year and I thought it was an interesting piercing that my family wouldn't see, and I wanted my tongue pierced to have something to play with. I knew getting my tongue pierced was out of the question, so this seemed like a really good idea. The webbing also look a lot less painful then getting my tongue pierced.

I couldn't eat the whole time I was thinking about my webbing and worrying if my webbing was too small or if the piercing would rip out and if I'd swallow my tongue. I was starting to feel so nervous. Three of my friends were getting it done as well as me. My friend Ryan who was there had his tongue pierced and told me you're not allowed to smoke the first few days so that was kind of a bummer and me and my friend Jenna smoked our last cigarette and went to the shop. Jenna kept telling me that I better not chicken out and I was definitely not going to be known as a chicken. I'm not going to lie, I really was thinking about not going through with it but something inside of me kept pushing me further to go on. When we got to the place Jenna offered to go first. The guy asked us for our age we told him we were all 16 except my friend Ryan who was there, Ryan was 18. I wasn't 16 but my friend Jenna was and my friend Ryan being 18, so he didn't mind about us being 16 year old. Plus he had done my nose, two of my friend's eyebrows, Marie, my other friend and Jennas's belly button and my Ryan's septum, so he remembered us. He took us into a familiar back air conditioned room. Everything was really sterile and legit aside from the fact we were mostly all underaged. As she sat there I was getting more nervous by the second. As the piercer put the clamp on her webbing Jenna was whimpering. I thought she was just being a baby because I never remembered the clamp hurting for any of my other piercings. As he pushed the needle in her whimpering got louder. It stopped when he slid the little bar through her webbing. My turn, I was so nervous at this point I thought I was going to pass out.
I sat in the chair and he put the clamp on my webbing. Oh my god did that hurt, but it was bearable. When he pushed the needle through I kind of yelled, it hurt so bad. I have my navel, my nose and about 8 piercing in my ear, and all of them combined did not hurt as bad at this. When he put the barbell in it slid right back out. I was bleeding and salivating all over the place (including on myself). That's when my friend Marie who was also going to get this done literally passed out. I had so much going on with the bleeding and Marie passing out that I just started yelling at the guy to take everything out of my mouth. Then I calmed down and sat right back in the chair. The piercer couldn't find the original hole and had to repierce it all over again. I can't believe I let him repierce it! And let me tell you the second time still hurt as bad. After it was in I felt like it totally wasn't worth it. He gave me a little cup of mouth wash which I later learned isn't good for any mouth piercing if it has alcohol in it. Then my friend Simma got it done after me. Simma whimpered too but then claimed it didn't hurt all that much. I gave the piercer a tip and left. Later that night I got a call that Jenna was sent to the hospital her tongue got so swollen that she couldn't breathe. I guess she got an allergic reaction or it got so easily infected in one night that it got that bad. Well that's what you get from a sketch piercer who pierces 15 and 16 year olds.
The next day my tongue was really sore. It hurt to yawn, eat and swallow. I talked kind of funny for two or three days. Some people say they can see it when I talk. To clean it I swish around alcohol free mouth wash in my mouth about three times a day and after everytime I smoke, eat or drink anything but water I spray this stuff called "I love my piercing". I think it's a salt water solution. The swelling goes away in about two days with the soreness. Now two weeks later I love it. The pain is so worth it. Once you get past the first day it is a really easy piercing to deal with. Your mouth will adjust and it's a really fun and unique piercing. It is also a really great conversation starter. I absolutely recommend to get this piercing if you're thinking about it, just don't bring a friend with a weak stomach.
