First off I would like to warn the people reading this that self piercing is very dangerous and should not be done. Ever.

I fell in love with them and had to have them, but me being oh...probably 15 or 16 at the time ( and living in the U.S.) I couldn't get it done without a parent.
I didn't even bother asking my mom and dad at the time because I knew I would get a no. So Christmas rolled around and I asked, but of course they said no. So I told them I would do it myself. Then thinking I wouldn't do it told me to go ahead.
I couldn't do it. Ugh.
Feeling defeated I forgot about it for a week or so until i saw my friend again with her tongue piercings, and had to have them again.
So my friend offered to pierce my tongue for me and convinced me that it wouldn't hurt and that I could hid them from my parents. I was so excited, I couldnt say no, so I walked down to my local tattoo shop with her and she bought me two 12 gauge needles and two 14 gauge barbells. Now I was so excited I didn't want to think of the pain . Nothing was gonna stop me now.I walked home with her and went into her basement and, I set up my materials. She already had clamps and let me borrow hers.
So I called my mom and told her I was spending the night at my cousins house (big lie) and then I called my cousin and told her that I told my mom I was sleeping over there. I thought I was so clever. I told my couisn what I was going to do and she flipped. She didn't think I could actually do it. She told me I was going to kill myself and pierce a vein. Now that she made me super nervous I was even more excited.
Now that I was in her basement it came time to pierce my tongue, and then her husband came home...
damnit! He got upset about her piercing my tongue because if anything went wrong I could sue. Or worse, bleed to death. So now I was on my own.
I put the clamps onto my tongue and rubber banded them and I took the needle out of the package... Wow I was really gonna do this. Not bothering to look for veins or anything of that matter I take a deep breath and push it through on the left side.
Pain. What can I say? Hurts as much as any other piercing. I put the jewlery in, and then I began to feel sick. I sat down for a half hour and drank some water to maybe calm myself down.
Okay, half hour goes by and I'm ready to try again. Once again clamps up, rubber band, open package, and get ready to stab. I start pushing on the right side and it doesn't go through as easily as the left does.
The first thing I think to myself is damnit I hit something, but I wasn't bleeding. So I kept pushing and it went through. I remember the relief of seeing the needle come through the other side looking perfectly normal. Then I put the jewlery in and came up stairs to show my friend.
She was shocked they were so straight, and that I actually went through with it. I remember eating was a bitch the first day but I didn't swell at all. I cleaned it 3 times a day with listerine (the yellow kind) and they healed up nicely.
I went home to go show my mom and she wasn't as pissed as I thought she would be. She didn't seem to care at all. She constantly talked about how ugly they were but that was about it. When I came to school with my new piercings I got mixed reactions. Some people thought they were awesome where as some people said they were ready to vomit. Just about everyone asked "CAN I TOUCH THEM?!" I went to work the next day as well and my boss said choose my job or my tongue rings. I chose my tongue rings and didn't get fired anyways, So I think it was worth it.
That was about 5 years ago and I still have them to this day.
I warn you! DON'T pierce yourself, you could even be risking your life. Espically your tongue, if you hit a vein you could really destroy your tongue. Go to a professional, or wait until your of legal age!
