I walked out of the piercing studio 80 minutes ago. I have not stopped giggling maniacally since.

The 17/06 has been the date of my double-tongue piercing since last month. Everything was discussed and arranged with Donna weeks ago; jewelry had been ordered in, tongue had been examined, placement figured out, risks all run through, etcetera etcetera.. so tonight when I rocked up to my favourite head shop/piercing studio, everything was ready like spaghetti.
Recap of the evening:
Ate a full fast-food meal, then made my way to Surfers (with my parents, no less. They paid, and one condition of the agreement was that they would drive me in and then drive me out right after. Whatever, you're paying.)
Swung past the 7-11 on the way for some Slurpee love. $2.40, large, raspberry and cola. Dig it.
Skipped all the way to the studio, sat the smother and other down and went upstairs. Donna was serving some customers, and I wasn't sure if she was still doing piercings, so I just lay on the counter until she looked at me. Asked about piercings. Yes, she was still piercing for the night.
It was on.
Filled out the form (I'd done this before, but lost the form before I gave it to her), had it witnessed by the Long-Haired Apprentice, and then went on through.
The Long-Haired Apprentice said some funny things.. I don't remember what.. then she stole my Slurpee and it was replaced with the mouthwash. All the experiences I've read have said the mouthwash was basically more painful than sodomy with a rake, but I found it quite refreshing. Minty.
Rinsed and spat, smiled a bit and stuck out my tongue for marking.
She marked, I checked, I liked. Then she stood in front of the mirror checking out her own tongue (Donna has like.. three or something like that), looked at mine again and nodded.
I LOVE Donna, she is so small and great.
Umm, then she explained what would happen, but we'd already had the conversation one hundred thousand times, so she made it brief.
"Are you ready?"
Nod.
Stuck out my tongue, the Long-Haired Apprentice was ogling over her shoulder, saying more funny things. I don't remember when the change-over of positions happened, but at some point she was on my left, then she was behind Donna, then she was on my right.
I LOVE the Long-Haired Apprentice, she is so small and great.
Clamp. Number one was not painful at all. My eyes watered a bit, but that was it. Donna started with the back one (that's just logic, I know, but I noted it anyway. Get off my back, man) and pierced bottom to top. After that was done, I was told to 'roll' the tongue back into my mouth (up and over the teeth, essentially) for a spell. I drank some water to get rid of the blood, then rolled it right back out for drying and then piercing two.
That one stung.
>From the re-clamp on I was uncomfortable (though delightfully so). Donna kept talking to me, there was a sharp pain, someone said "fuck" quite loudly (perhaps me), and then it was done. She tightened the balls (she'd done the same with the first, after the water drinking) and that was that.
Hugs and exhibition of the tongue (ROLL IT) followed, and of course aftercare.

Avoid acidic anything, hot and spicy, smoking, gum, alcohol, drugs, milk, etc. Anything that hurts.
And, for later, Cepacol.
My tongue is swelling slowly (I'm not sure how long it's taken me to write this...30 minutes or something. So, almost two hours since piercing). The back is more swollen than the front, and I'm starting to feel some discomfort. Speech is okay, but some words are just all over the show. I've tried saying "fuck" a few times (if you can say the eff word, you're quite alright, I think), and I'm starting to experience some difficulty with that (fuck. This is not good).
If you're reading to know about to pain factor, I don't know what to tell you. You wont be able to discern how you'll be affected by reading experiences, no way. But I promise it's not unbearable.
Also, anyone on the Gold Coast or nearby: if you're looking for a good place to get your piercings done, go and check out Off Ya Tree (piercing studio is Punktured, but most people know Off Ya Tree.. so whatever). It may not be your deal, as I'm told (by them) that they're mid-range in pricing.. Not boasting the cheapest deal around or anything.. But I've spent a lot of time in piercing studios on the Coast/Brisbane (A lot of my friends like to think of themselves as HARDXKORE, so pierce all layers of skin and such), and I've personally never liked a place as much. There's another Punktured in Brisbane, which I don't go to as often.. But it's run and owned by the same woman, and she has awesome standards and expectations. I'm rambling, I know.. but I just wanna give those guys the wrap they deserve.
Awesome piercers. Awesome people. Awesome bedside manner.
