It was Monday morning, and my room mate and I were feeling really bored. I really wanted a change, and whenever I want to feel change I dye my hair, cut my hair, or pierce something. Since I had already dyed my hair like a week ago I decided that I would go get a piercing.
At A Glance Author crazyemopink When A month ago Studio Xtreme Piercings Location Streetsville I wanted to get something that wasn't too noticeable, but at the same time noticeable. My friend suggested I get my tongue pierced because I could still kind of hide it, in a way. I thought that that would be a good idea, but I knew so many girls that had their tongues pierced, and it was so cliché. Like I'm not really the kind of person that does what everyone else is doing at the time.
Anyways, so my room mate and I ask around to see who did some lets say"different" or "unique" piercings for people, and my friend Adam introduced me to some place in I'm pretty sure Streetsville (not to good at directions. I can't even remember the piercers name...how bad is that! Anyways this guy seemed really cool, and he showed me some pictures of some stuff he did in the past. I really liked what I saw, and I discussed with him, that I wanted to do something different, but get my tongue done. Since I knew that getting your tongue pierced is kind of risky, I wanted to make sure doing it would be safe. Because I am so a safety nut. :P
Anyways...he reassured me that it would be perfectly fine to kind of adjust where the tongue piercing would be. That made me very happy. This guy came off as being really honest, and informative. Like I totally trusted this guy, so I told him just to do whatever, and I'd be happy. As soon as I sat in the chair my nerves really started to get to me, but I knew I wanted to do this. He totally reassured me again and again that it would be okay, which was such a big help, especially because I know a lot of piercers who just want to get the piercing over with and don't really care about how your dealing with what you're about to do to your body. I was so scared!
He told me to stick out my tongue, and he started to softly rub something on it. It was a very very clean process, which made me happy. My friend clenched my hand as he marked where he was going to pierce me. It was slightly to the front of my teeth, but to the right (my right). It was hard to stick out my tongue for so long, but I was more concerned with what was about to go through my tongue. I closed my eyes after he made his mark, and waited for him to get the needle ready.
If anyone ever tries to pierce your tongue with a gun! RUN! Always go for the needle, it's way safer. So anyways, when he was ready I closed my eyes, and clenched my room mate's hand. My friend Adam walked in the door and was like don't worry don't worry, trying to side track my mind which was actually kind of helping. All of a sudden I felt this sharp pain, I felt the urge to pull my tongue back, but I resisted. It was almost over. Once the needle had gone through he put the ball on the other side. He cleaned up the piercing a little bit, since I was bleeding.
The piercer told me that in a few weeks I could get a shorter bar from him (free of charge!), because the swelling would go down. When he showed me the piercing in a mirror I was really really pleased with what it looked like. The funny thing is the piercing was the easy part! Tongue piercings are way high maintenance. The piercer told me that it was not a good idea to clean my tongue piercing with mouth wash, but instead I had to use some special stuff he gave me. The reason behind not using mouth wash was that for some reason a lot of tongue piercings get infected because of bacteria build up. I didn't know that. For about a week I could barely eat anything that wasn't mushy, because my tongue hurt so much.
But the end result was so freaking awesome. Even my mom liked it, and that's saying something! It was creative, and it's definitely a great tool! *wink wink* I suggest you all go out and get one NOW! Thanks for listening to my story! Hope it helped anyone that was scared, or didn't know how a tongue piercing should properly be done!! I'll write again when I get my tattoo!!!
