I've always liked piercings but I don't have any real piercings except for my ears. My sister just turned 18, and she wanted to go get her belly button pierced so my cousin, my sister, and I drove to a piercing parlor called The Dragon's Lair. The piercer wasn't very nice but he took my sister's id and everything. He took her back and did everything.
At A Glance Author Julie Contact Julie@bme.anon When A month ago Artist No idea Studio Skin Graphics Location Bay City, Michigan I decided I wanted my tongue pierced a long time ago and since I'm only 16, I knew it was out of the question for a long time because my parents are so against that kind of stuff, I knew they would kill me. My cousin who went with us wanted her nipples pierced so her and I decided we would ask the piercer for an exception. When my sister was done, I asked, and it was a flat out no. So that was a huge disappointment but that didn't stop us.
There was a little piercing and tattooing parlor , Skin Graphics, like two minutes from my cousin's house so we decided we'd try them. She called them first and asked if you need your parent's with you and they said "yes", and then he asked "Why? What did you want done?" and she said her nipples. Of course, him being male made the exception, I mean what guy wouldn't want to pierce a 17 year old's nipples?
We got there and they had the music blasting and there was like a party going on behind the studio. It wasn't a bad place though and we were waiting on some couches in the hallway. Then I went and asked if they would be able to do my tongue. The guy looked at me and was nervous because of the fact he would be doing it illegal and that I was only 16. He told me he said yes to my cousin because her parent would never see her nipples, but surely my parents would eventually see my tongue. I reassured the man that I lived an hour away, which was the truth and that I would never tell my parents or anyone else where I got it done, plus I told him I would tip good. So he gave in and I was estatic.
My cousin went first. Then it was my turn. I wasn't nervous at all, I don't really feel pain the way others do, I was just extremely excited. I sat down on this bench thing and while he was preparing everything, I was asking him a bunch of questions which he didn't seem to mind. He then gave me a small cup of mouth wash that I rinsed my mouth with for about a minute, then spit it out. He grabbed the clamps and asked me to stick out my tongue.
Since my tongue doesn't go out very long and my web was in the way, it took him 3 tries to clamp it. So finally he did. He grabbed the needle and asked if I wanted him to just put it through or if he should count to three. I asked him to count to three because I wanted to know and because I wanted to watch it. He put it in and it didn't hurt at all, I didn't feel anything. So I'm sitting there staring at this needle poking out of my tongue and he grabbed the barbell and shoved it through, and that kind of stung a little but nothing bad. I rinsed my mouth out again and it was over. It felt so weird afterwords and I sat up and immediately ran to a mirror and admired it.It looked so cool and it only bled a little bit. I couldn't thank him enough. Since there was so many people there, I showed everyone.
So on our way out, we paid him (a hefty amount) and left. We stopped at the local 7-eleven and I got a slurpee for my tongue. The next morning it was swollen but not as bad as I expected it to, and it was a little sore. I kind of slurred my speech but it wasn't too bad. My diet for two days consisted of ice chips and ice cold water and by day three, most of the swelling was gone and I could eat again. Its been a month and a half since I got it done and I love it. Amazingly my parents still don't know. Eventually they will see it and they're going to kill me and I'll never be able to go anywhere ever again, but I love my tongue ring and I will never regret it.
To anyone even thinking about getting it done, I seriously recommend it. It the perfect piercing, its not obvious, it can close whenever you want it to, and it looks awesome.
