I had my tongue pierced 13 days ago and love it. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. I was browsing the internet and started thinking about the different things I wanted to do...tongue, nipple, and two tattoos, and came across BME. Once I started reading I knew I wanted to get my tongue done that day. The place I chose ended up being different than where I was going to go at first. I was on A.R.T.S Tattoo's website earlier and it was closer – traffic in Atlanta at 6 p.m. sucks, so A.R.T.S it is. When I arrived I like it. It is neat little spot except I drove right by it the first time I walk in and tell the sexy guy covered in tattoos that I want my tongue pierced. He goes and gets Push Rod. I knew from talking to Push Rod that I was going to become a familiar face.... it's a cool spot. I wasn't nervous, but had a lot of questions because I read way too much on the internet and listened to my friends. Push Rod walks me through what he is going to do and we begin. I remember grabbing the table and clinching it with my dear life...he's done and screwing the ball on...my tongue shook more than I did when he was screwing the ball on. It was quick; I couldn't believe it didn't hurt and I felt new and sexy.

That was the easiest piercing I've gotten. I stopped at the store on the way home and bought ice cream, pain relievers, mouth wash, soft tooth brush, and popsicles. I was able to talk, but boy was I hungry. I went right after work and didn't eat before hand. Eight hours later, WTF! I woke up with a mouth full of tongue...OH MY! I wanted a steak, tons of ice, and some relief. Within 20 minutes I felt much better, and back to sleep I went.
Day 1: Didn't talk much and was in love with the ice chips and ice cream...Around 11 a.m. I wanted a cup of coffee.... SO I get a cup and add enough ice to make it cool...Ahhh, that's what I needed. I kept a very low profile at work since it's a conservative environment. Around 4 I headed home to take a nap because I was getting my tattoo at 6:30....it didn't help that I the guy who was going to do my tattoo was hot...so I didn't sleep all that well. I arrived an hour late, but was able to get the tattoo...thank God! After he finished, back home I went and there was pizza...I had to have a slice. As I picked it up, my mouth was watering and I tried to take a bite, but the damn barbell was getting in the way and then I remembered that I had to learn to eat all over again, so the pizza was cut into baby bites....boy it was SO good even though it took me 20 minutes to eat it. Once finished I did the aftercare routine and off to bed. I have just a little bit of swelling remaining.
Day 2: Club night...I needed a drink and I wanted to mingle a little. After work, I relaxed and did the normal ice chips and cold water routine and this time ate chicken nuggets cut into baby bites...mmmm, real food, but damn! I still wanted a steak (as you can see I love steak). I head out after a couple of beers and that did the trick...the tingling feeling on my tongue had me feeling really good, but I turned around and had a whiskey sour and that didn't go too well...it burned like hell, but I finished the drink and went back to drinking beer. I had no problems with the tongue and the swelling is almost gone.
Day 3: Saturday was not a good day. The barbell is too long and it irritated the bottom of my mouth. It hurts and I have no desire for food, ice chips, cigarettes, nothing! I slept most of the day away so I wouldn't feel miserable.
Day 4: Sunday wasn't too bad; I was finally adjusting more to the barbell and it was not as irritating. It's the day before Labor Day and its party night. I ate steak, finally, cut into strips and that made me very happy even though the bottom of my mouth was raw from trying to find a way to adjust to the length of the barbell. I got ready and head out for a night of fun. When we arrived a band was playing, but I head inside to dance for a little bit. I return outside to enjoy the music and mingle with friends. Being out was what I needed and my tongue needed.
Day 5: Slept most of the day since I had a hang over.
Day 6: Back to work I go and no problems with the tongue. The swelling is gone and I am talking much better even though I can't pronounce some of my letters. I kept using the excuse to my coworkers that I had dental work done. I was eating normal food again and feeling much better.
Day 7: The day I decide to have a double cheeseburger...I was so excited...as I eat, the barbell gets in the way. I call the shop, but they're not open yet and I begun to feel miserable again. I was ready for a smaller barbell and want my tongue back. A.R.T.S opened at 2 and I was there soon afterwards all nervous (not sure if it was because I was seeing the cute guy at the shop or if changing the tongue ring was going to hurt). Ouch that hurt! Not all that bad, but he did see me squirm! My mouth feels great and the swelling is gone, but soon afterwards it started to swell from him changing it. I return to work and back to the ice chips for an hour. By the time I got home, my tongue was normal and I was stuffing my face. Since then it has been sweet times with the new piercing and I look forward to having my nipples done in two days.
