So about five years ago, I first saw some lovely venoms on BME. I was fascinated. So much more interesting than boring old standard tongue piercings! But of course, I was fifteen years old and my mother was dead-set against it. She was against any piercing on my body other than standard lobe. I guess I can't say I blame her. I actually thank her for making me wait until I was eighteen to get anything pierced/tattooed. All of my mods were worth the wait. After I turned eighteen, I went back and forth with the idea while getting various other piercings. I finally decided it was something I had to have about ten months ago.

I know how much I love to talk. That was my main fear, not being able to talk. I knew how much it would bother me to speak. Plus I was modeling and acting for a while and knew it would affect my speech and my super-uptight agent wouldn't like anything so beside-the-norm. After a year and a half of representation, she never even found out about my septum piercing. But she had a conniption when she saw my first tattoo. We had a falling out in February about piercings and so I left my job with admissions in the agency. She felt it was okay for a thirteen year old to have a pierced navel but not my twenty-year-old body.
I decided up to give up mainstream modeling because I didn't exactly look mainstream and I wasn't getting many job offers of that type. I got my first movie role in March. Filming was to start towards the end of May and continue for about three months, so I had to act fast and get any visible mods before we began. Including several tattoos, and finally, my venoms.
Friday
I'm not sure why I chose that particular day to do it. I guess I just thought it would be a good idea. Maybe I should have waited until I had more time away from work. It was Friday, April 30, 2004. I got off of work at Great Clips and drove alone to taco bell where I ate my last meal. Then I drove straight to my piercer. We caught up a bit since it had been several months since we had seen each other. And then it was down to business. Although I was well read on the subject, I asked any questions I could think of related to my tongue and getting it pierced. Just in case I had been misinformed. He looked at my tongue, we discussed jewelry and placement, and I rinsed with some awful-tasting mouthwash. Then came the drying and marking. It seemed weird to have someone drawing on my tongue. I wanted them toward the center, not as spaced out as some I have seen. The markings looked perfect, so we proceeded. Clamp, sharp pain, jewelry, drool, tighten. All on the ri ght side. Much less pain than I expected. Tiny droplet of blood. Luckily, my piercer seems to know my body better than I do. He knew that I always get dizzy after he pierces me, so he wanted to take a break. I didn't get the dizziness right afterwards but about a minute later. So after a three minute break, we got back to work on the left side. Clamp, pain, jewelry, drool, tighten. I had problems keeping my tongue still throughout the entire procedure. But I dealt. And when I finally got to look in the mirror, I loved it.
I had him change my nostril jewelry for me, paid (and tipped of course), and left. I couldn't stop looking at my beautimous new piercings. I somehow talked myself into getting a new tattoo the same day, so I drove to Warlocks for a piece of customized flash. I'll tell about that experience later.
Anyways, I went out that night and everyone wanted to know why I was smiling so much and talking so little. My tongue felt so heavy. And it was a bit difficult to talk. I didn't eat anything that night, but I drank lots of water.
Saturday
I woke up thinking there was candy in my mouth and trying to spit it out. My tongue was swollen and itchy at the tip. I attempted to eat yogurt but soon lost my appetite. My mom didn't even notice the horrible lisp until I asked her if she noticed. Then I stuck out my tongue at her. She didn't speak to me for a couple of days after that. At work, it surprised everyone. And I speak too much when I cut hair. You never realize how much you speak until you have what seems like a pound of metal in your mouth. Everyone at work got Quizno's that day. Except me. I had chicken broth. Yum. I went out that night with my best friend. Met someone who gave me wonderful conversation but I couldn't speak as much as I wanted to. Or talk without sounding like Cindy Brady. I got stoned and ate chocolate syrup at four in the morning. But still remembered to rinse.
Sunday
Woke up at a friend's house, late for work. Rushed to work, Ate ice cream on the way. It felt goooood. No one noticed I was late. The swelling was still pretty bad. Everyone at work ate pizza. I had pizza-flavored soup. It burned. I went home after work and went to sleep before 6pm.
Monday
Still swollen. Got called into work on my day off. Tried to keep quiet to help the swelling. Soft english muffins with lots of jam.
Tuesday
No work! Kept quiet for most of the day. Until my mother got home from work. She started speaking to me again as if nothing had ever happened. I ate pepperjack cheese. Big mistake!!! Jalapeno got stuck in my tongue somehow. A bit of blood, lots of pain.
Wednesday-Friday
Still swollen, Cindy Brady lisp. PAIN! Some solid food. I have lost five pounds. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten this piercing
Saturday
NO PAIN!!!!!! It took a week, but finally. The lisp has started to go down.
Two weeks later
No pain whatsoever. These are the best piercings ever! Completely worth every minute of pain. And now for my labret?
