I decided I wanted my tongue pierced in around January of this year. I asked, well pleaded, with my mum to let me get it done but there seemed like there was no way she was giving in. So naturally I asked my dad. He seemed fine with the idea and agreed to take me after school one day. I was 14 at the time(I'm 15 now, i got it done about a week or two before my 15th birthday!) so I had to bring a parent with me, otherwise I wouldn't have told my mum!

I told her my dad said he would let me get it done and it took from January until March to make her let him take me!I took a friend with me for support and all the way through school that day it was all I could think about. You may think I have a lot of piercings so I can take pain but it is the very opposite the only piercings I had before my tongue was one hole in both my ears!
I got to the hairdressers where I was getting it done and by this time I was very nervous! I walked into the reception part and told the woman I wanted my tongue pierced. She said that should be fine and asked me my age, and I told her I was 14 but my dad was with me. He had to sign a form to say he agreed to everything and if anything went wrong it wasn't there fault or something I don't know, I was so nervous I didn't even read the sheet! I was squeezing my friends hand the whole way up the stairs. I actually thought I was going to faint walking up the tiny stairs to the top floor. I sat on a small sofa for about half a minute and was actually thinking of chickening out, but then the piercer, Jean, came out and told me to come into the room.
The room was very small with only a bed, a sink, and a cabinet with bars and needles. Everything was very clean though, all the needles were in a sterilized dish and so were the bars, and she wore a different pair of gloves to pierce my tongue and to put the bar in.
I had to rinse my mouth with this stuff that smelt bad, but didn't taste that bad, then told to lie on the bed incase I fainted, as she could tell I was very nervous! The woman dried my tongue with a hankie which I hated because it felt weird and gave me goose bumps!! and then clamped it with tongs which didn't really hurt at all. I closed my eyes and before long it was pierced. I felt a sting but it wasn't half as bad as i expected! the sorest part was getting the balls screwed on to the bar!but at least I knew it was all over!
The most trouble I had was trying to keep my tongue sticking out but without tensing it while she was piercing it because my reaction was to pull it back in!
When it was all over, she told me to come back in two weeks to get the bar changed to a shorter one, and the long one may look a bit wonky. When I got out I was so happy and I attempted eating a lolly but most of it ended up on my chin! I have to admit I couldn't eat solid food for a day or two even though she told me I had to! It hurt when I even ate soup but that only lasted for the first day.
When I showed all my friends they couldn't believe I got it done! the worst thing about it would probably have to be the swelling, mine didn't swell too much thankfully but I did notice it getting bigger and it being harder to say words with s's for a while! My mum is still very annoyed and hasn't got over it yet but it's worth it!
Getting my tongue pierced has shown me that not all piercings have to hurt so it left me wanting more! I want my next one to be my nipple or my eyebrow but it might take me a while to get even my dad to agree to those!
To anyone that is thinking about getting their tongue pierced I think you should go for it! as long as you check the place out to make sure they are safe enough, and it really wont hurt as much as you expect! If someone like me can get it done, I think just about anybody can! I you have any questions you can email me, Kat_h20@hotmail.com, and I'll be happy to answer any questions etc!
