About 3 months ago I got my lip pierced at Loops and Pierces in Santa Rosa, Ca. I LOVE my lip ring, everyone says it suits my face really well and I had an excellent time there (the guy who pierced me was Roy) and they made me feel welcome.
At A Glance Author Nikki Contact mad4benji@yahoo.com When It just happened Artist Ryan Studio Anubis Warpus Location San Francisco, Ca I had wanted to get my tongue pierced ever since my brother's girlfriend had done it. I wanted it for about a year or two when I got out of the phase of wanting it.
Well, about a week ago my best friend tells me he wants to go get his tongue pierced and I tell him if he does it, I will too. He told me about a place in San Fran that has a special on Tuesdays ($35 for tongue) and that we should go do it.
I told him I'd go and that I'd pay for his as an early birthday present.
Tried as I might, I couldn't sleep at all last night! I was way too excited about this and I have been waiting for a while. I keep waking up and having dreams about this happening. Well finally today rolls around and we load everyone into the car and get going.
We (Jeremy, Maria, Colin and I) go and get something to eat before Jeremy and I get pierced. We head over to a Mexican restaurant for our last real meal.
We start walking towards the piercing place and I start to get nervous but yet I was also super duper excited! I couldn't wait for this to happen.
Jeremy and I began to get really nervous as we stepped into the place. It looked like a cool store and they were super clean.
We walked up to the cashier and told her what we wanted, there was no wait, so we filled out the forms and she looked at the underside of our tongues. Well, it was my turn to show her and she called over Ryan the piercer to see if my tongue was okay to pierce. He looked and said it was fine. YaY! and phew! I thought I couldn't do it, since I have a little tongue but he said it was a-okay, so YaY!!
I paid and we waited a few minutes while Ryan got ready. Jeremy was more nervous than me, so he went first. Ryan prepped him first with rinsing his mouth with Listerine then a mark on both sides of his tongue then clamped him. I held his hand and Ryan told him to take a few deep breaths then on the last one, he pierced him. He got in the barbell and YaY! He was done! During the piercing, Jeremy drooled and he bled a little bit.
Oh lordy, my turn! I got in the chair and swished my mouth, got marked, got clamped, grabbed Jeremy's hand, breathed in deep, very deep exhale and I'm pierced! Ryan puts in the barbell and I'm done.
I thought it would hurt a lot more than it did. The clamp and when he put in the barbell were the worst. It stung for just a few seconds then it was just a numb feeling. I didn't drool or bleed. I knew to hold my head back a little and I cringed a bit right as the needle began to go through but besides that, it was awesome.
After it all and we both check out our tongues in the mirror, Ryan gives us the cleaning speech about swishing with Listerine and and all that good stuff then tells us to come back in 2 weeks to downsize from a 14g 3'4" to a 14g 5/8".
After we got back home, we went over to my work (I had today off) to go and show my friend/coworker Eileen. She said she had been dying to see it, so I stuck out my tongue and there it was.
I had meant to bring along my camera to take pictures of before, during and after, but I couldn't find it. I would have wanted to have those to show my kids.
I love my tongue piercing so much. I've had it for about 10 hours. It's swollen of course and I sound retarded but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The swelling isn't too bad, I can somewhat talk and I have a day or so before I have to go to work. I love the look of it and Jeremy and I are saying it's our best friend symbol (we were gonna get tattoos but instead we got matching tongue piercing).
I'll probably be craving another piercing in a few months but I'm not sure what I'll get. I was thinking of getting my tongue webbing, a Madonna or my cheeks done.
