But when my ex talked me into getting my ear done, I was hooked. Of Course after that I said I'd never get my tongue pierced- ever. I said it would bother me too much to have a bar inside my mouth all the time. However, when I started wanting a new piercing, but I couldn't decide on what to get. Then I saw a picture of the venom piercing I feel in love with it I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Though I really wanted it I was still bothered by the thought of having something in my mouth. As the weeks went by, I slowly started to cave in on my desire for a venom piercing. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and decided to get it done as soon as I could. Of course though, I had to wait for pay day being the poor college student I am. When I finally got paid I called up St. Sabrina's and set up an appointment to get it done.
I could barley sit still all day I was so nervous. So far I had only had my ear pierced twice and the thought of my tongue being pierced made me have butterflies in my stomach. When I arrived St. Sabrina's I filled out the proper paper work and then went to the back to meet the piercer. He introduced himself as Scott and asked me what gauged piercing I wanted to go with. I decided to go with a 12 gauge and I wanted them side by side instead of centered. We went into the room where the piercing is done and I sat down. While he finished getting set up he asked why I decided to go with a venom piercing. I told him that if I was going to get my tongue pierced I mind as well double up on it. I rinsed my mouth out so it was clean and then stuck my tongue out to get it marked for the piercing. After a couple tries, my tongue wouldn't let him mark it, we got it marked and I agreed on the placement. Scott told me that once he pierced the first he had to pierce the second one right aw ay or else it'll swell up to much. I nodded my head nervously to this and we began the process of piercing my tongue.
As with every piercing I had so far I took three deep breaths and on the third exhale he made the hole. It didn't hurt just felt really weird. Once he got the barbell in Scott made me take three more breaths and once again on the third exhale he made the second hole. Now since the first one didn't hurt I hadn't expected the second one to, well I was wrong it hurt. I was completely relieved when the barbell was in and everything was over. The feeling of total relief that I get with all my piercing washed over me and I felt very good. Then the light headiness hit me and I had to lie down. Scott then explained the important after care information and answered some of the questions I had. Once I could stand again I ran over the mirror and checked out my new piercing. I was very happy with it and gave Scott the biggest tip I could, which was six bucks but it was all I had. The whole ride home I kept looking at in the rear view mirror admiring my newest body modification. It's bee n two weeks and I still love my piercing even though it's kind of weird still to have something in my mouth all the time.
I've heard stories of the first week after a tongue piercing and I have to agree with them. My tongue swelled up so badly that I couldn't eat or talk for two days. I lived off water and chick broth that my friend would make me. Finally on the third day I could eat soft foods by sticking them in my mouth and by passing my sore tongue. Luckily one of my friends has just lost their wisdom teeth so we both shared in the agony of not being able to eat anything solid. By the end of the first week my tongue had regained it normal size and I started eating everything I couldn't while it was swelled. The only bad thing so far to come out of having my piercing is inability to pick my teeth with my tongue which I've found I really miss. All in all I enjoy my piercing and have already decided my next one is going to be a lip piercing hopefully the first of three.
