My mother told me that as soon as I turned eighteen I could tattoo dirty pictures all over my body and poke a barbell through every place I could pull up enough skin. Two weeks after I turned legal, I got my first tatoo. Then, I did a stupid thing and pierced my own helix with a safety pin. I'm a dumbass, I know. It all went great and had started to heal fine until I got hairspray gunked up on the jewelry at Prom and had to take it out. Well, I learned my lesson and as soon as the hole was gone, I went and got it done professionally, and the piercing almost didn't happen. It kept getting caught on my pillow case at night. The result is that it riped enough to wear it is more of a surface piercing than a cartilege piercing. But I still love it. Next on my list was my tongue webbing. I have always wanted an oral piercing, but I don't like the way tongue piercings look, and even if I did, my tongue is too short and my tongue webbing goes all the way to the friggin' ti p. I have a tongue that defies normalcy. Which, I suppose is good.

I have selected one piercing salon to go to exclusively, as I plan to get extensive work done and would rather be comfortable with my surroundings. I go to Mystical Illusions here in Oklahoma, and they are the most awesome bunch of people you will EVER work with. They have always taken good care of me, whether on the phone or in person. Plus, they have a huge collection of jewelry, and more experience and willingness to experiment than any other palce around here.

The day of my piercing, I was walking across campus to get to class and ran into one of my friends and decided lunch sounded like a better idea than class. So off we went to Denny's where I decided that today was the day. I had been trying to get the time set aside to do it for about a month now, and I had the money and the time and the balls, so I decided to go through with it. After lunch, we went back to her dorm and I brushed my teeth and flossed and gargled, just like I was going to the dentist. Then we headed off to get punched.

I told Daniel, my piercer, what I wanted and he prepared me for it being rather difficult because I had to keep my mouth open so long and my tongue out of the way. I asked him if it hurt. He told me, "Honestly, I couldn't tell you. It is probably one of the handful of piercings I Haven't experienced for myself." I giggled. Me and my dirty mind. However, I digress. I told him I didn't drive out here for nothing so to go ahead and set things up. I signed the needed papers, and showed my ID, and gave him the thirty bucks before he helped me decide what jewelry to get. I told him to pierce me with what he would pierce himself with. He chose a 14 gauge curved barbell. Then we were off to the back.

I watched him pulling out the tools from thier little condom casing. (for your protection) And I see him pull out this fish hook looking needle, the hemostats, the cork, jewelry, but I'm not seeing any clamps. Inside my head I'm screaming "The Clamps! The Clamps! You forgot the CLAMPS!!" For some reason I had assumed he would clamp me, but I must have been on crack. My next thought was "You can do this. It can't be that bad." And as Daniel approached me for the ready I was thinking "Yes it can! It CAN be that bad." I lifted my tongue and Daniel slid the needle in. I felt like a fish must feel. It was badass. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. It was like biting your tongue really slow. It took him awhile to get the jewelry in because my tongue kept spazzing out. Once in it took him three trys to get on the ball because of all the saliva that built up in my mouth. At one point I opened my eyes to see him standing right above me, inches from my fac e staring intently at my mouth in deep concentration with his tongue sticking out. It was funny. I wanted to laugh but wasn't really able to at the moment, and made a little mental note to do so as soon as possible and closed my eyes again. Finally it was in, and Daniel pointed me to the mirror. It sat a tad crooked, I attribute that to my retard spaz tongue. But I was very pleased. I told Daniel that I would be back soon and he informed me that they were getting a new website up and that I should come back in about a week to let him take a picture of my tongue and my ear, which he also did.

Quick. (not really) Painless (sorta) Easy. (um... for me.)

It is nearly a week later, and it is healing just fine. I was talking with a slight lisp for the first few days, but its almost all gone now. The swelling was nominal. The pain was too. It felt like a bruise and thats about it. I'm still getting used to the way it makes things feel. I can't wait for it to heal so I can take it on a real test spin. *wink, wink* I have noticed that it causes a little more salivation than I am used to, but each day it gets better as my body learns its not going away and that its not food. Although, every time I try to talk I try to move it out of the way like its a piece of hard candy before the DUH sets in.

All in all, I LOVE it, and can't wait to pull up a new piece of skin to run a barbell through
