I've wanted to get my tongue pierced for as long as I can remember . But I have the kind of parents who are totally against oral piercings ("It'll wreck your teeth Katie Its so dangerous blah blah etc.") and if I were to come home with a tongue ring I'd for sure have some crappy consequences, one of them being to take the piercing out . So I decided I wasn't going to get a tongue piercing until I move out .

A few years later I was searching through BME and came across tongue web piercings . I instantly fell in love . I mean ok , its definitely not as amazing as an actual tongue ring , but still an oral piercing and one that I can hide from my parents . I decided I was for sure going to get this done as soon as I could .

So one day I walked into Bee Cool and talked to Mike about getting a tongue web piercing . He told me that I could easily hide it from my parents , it wouldn't affect my speech and I'd be the only one of my friends with such a unique piercing . I was sold . I went up to pay and asked Dee if it would reject easily . She said they generally last three months to three years and it could really go either way because its such a small piece of skin that gets moved around a lot . I really didn't want to spend 60 bucks on a piercing that wasn't going to last me a while . So that day I decided on my rook instead so that I had some time to think about my tongue web before I made my final decision .

About a month later I was back at Bee Cool getting my Daith pierced when I saw a poster on the wall advertising "Piercefest 2003" . All piercings are $5 plus jewelery on June 22 . I thought that would be the perfect time to get my tongue web done because I'd only be spending $30 instead of sixty .

So here I am on June 22nd , lined up outside of Bee Cool with probably 50 other people waiting to be pierced at such a good price . After about an hour we got inside and I told Rob that I was getting my tongue web done . He told me different than Mike did . He said I definitely would not be able to hide it from my parents and it would affect my speech . But by this time I was already so excited about it that I didn't care and was ready to do it anyway .

So another few minutes went passed as I watched my friend Ashley get her rook pierced and her boyfriend get his lip pierced . Then it was my turn . I sat up on the chair and Dee went through the procedure . I rinsed my mouth out with some mouth wash and then opened up . She clamped my little tongue web and pushed the needle through . No pain at all . I hardly felt it go through . But then I heard the one thing you definitely don't want to hear when you have a needle through your tongue web and if you move you could slice your mouth open . "SHIT !" Turns out Dee dropped the ring on the floor so she had to go get a new one . She told me to keep very still and keep my mouth open as wide as I could . This was hard to do because my jaw started to hurt and I was drooling everywhere . She came back with the new 14 gauge captive bead ring and fed it through after the needle . Then the ball was on and I could finally close my mouth . I looked in the mirror and it was beautiful . I t hanked Dee so much and went to get my after care sheet . I could talk fine but I could feel my tongue web swelling a little bit . I showed a bunch of people in the waiting room and then I was off to the train station .

It hurt to smoke after so my friend Brittany shared one with me . I got home and lunch was out on the table . It was so hard to chew !! I had to cut my food into really small pieces so it was a bit easier . It was only like that for the first day and I rinsed with sea salt and warm water everytime I ate or smoked or anything.

Its all healed now and its my favorite piercing . My parents still don't know about it and I'm hoping to keep it that way because they'd freak out . But its really a fun little piercing . People will hear me clicking it and ask to see my tongue ring and when I show them they're like "Oh my God !! I've never seen that before thats so cool !" I like having uncommon piercings and where I live it definitely is uncommon to have a pierced tongue web . I recommend it to anyone who wants a tongue ring but isn't allowed to !!
