Alright, after 2 years and several months of begging, my parents finally gave in to let me get my tongue pierced for my 16th birthday. I agreed to pay for anything I needed..until I realized all I was paying for. The first place I called to get it done at was in an industrial place where there were zillions of shops that looked like they were in garages. All my friends had their's done there so I was determined to go. Finally, we went inside after 45 minutes of searching the many rows of buildings for it. When we got in we were greeted by a, well he was very good looking, guy at the front desk. I told him I wanted a center tongue piercing and asked if he could explain all I would need to get it done. Well since I am not 18 I had to get a notary, and of course all notaries were closed at this point. So..he gave me a form, explained how much it would cost for it to be done and said come back sometime after 4 pm the next day because the pierced would be in then.

Well, the next day at school, my friend Candy told me her dad pierces over in Wilmington and I should go check it out. Plus, she also told me that because I told her about it, I could a cheaper price and alot nicer treatment. So..I was sold! I went home and told my parents. However, A&G ( Candy's dad's shop) also required a notary. So, we went and got a form and went to an auto tag shop to get my notary. FINALLY! I COULD GET IT DONE! We went into A&G and sat down, it's a pretty awesome place inside, I got a kick out of my mom looking through the countless tattoo magazines laying around. I picked out about 4 tattoo's I was also set on coming back to get (that's another experience). Finally, the guy came out and said to sign the forms and we did. Then, it was time. By then, I was crapping myself with butterflies because I was sooo nervous. But no worries!

I sat down on a humongous chair facing Mr. Williams. He said stick out your tongue, so I did. I could see he had a ball out on a soaking wet paper towel..wet from rubbing alcohol because there was an open bottle in the same area. Then he said, don't worry just dont pull your tongue back into your mouth and drooling was normal so he handed me a paper towel to hold under my chin. His partner grabbed the clamps once he positioned them on my tongue. Then, they started randomly talking about the air conditioning..I want to say so they could distract me, but they didn't at all. Mr. Williams put the needle through the bottom first, all I felt was pressure, it did not hurt at all. I guess I was more freaked out that I actually was getting my tongue pierced. Then, he slid the barbell in and I was done. He gave me a cup of a mixture of rubbing alcohol and mouthwash. I rinsed and spit it out, I didn't bleed, which I was angry with my tongue for later. I went and looked in the mirror an d fell in love.

It was close to the tip of my tongue so I got concerned. Mr. Williams saw my face and said, don't worry, its because of your webbing and you will be fine, it will move back after awhile...so I was set. We paid him $30 dollars and I tipped him 5 because I was so glad he did it for me. He gave me a form on how to clean it and we left. We drove to the drug store and bought peroxide and mouthwash. When we got home, everything was fine but I really started to swell. Eventually, I could barely talk and it hurt but I didn't care. I didn't eat again until morning and I had oatmeal...it hurt somewhat to swallow but I managed. I hated the little piece of skin that grew overnight, but that is gone now. It has been 3 months since I got my tongue done and I could not be any happier with it! I have a zillion balls to change it to and still am trying to figure out the retainer but I bought light pink balls to conceal it at interviews for work. I really reccomend getting your tongue pierced . If your scared of it, then don't but you may regret it when you don't have it done and wanted to. Just don't go around showing it off, that will get you weird looks and alot of pain.
