I had thought about having my tongue pierced for a long time, but never thought that it would happen. I asked my mum completely out of the blue if I could have it done, expecting to get 'No you can't' but I got completely the opposite response, 'Yeh if you pay for it!' I was ecstatic! My dad was not too pleased about me getting it done, but I went ahead and did it anyway! My mum had previously had her tongue pierced but had taken it out because it had started to hurt, but that didn't worry me. She decided to come along and have hers done too, along with another piercing. I have a nose piercing as well, which I got done at AAA and as my mum knows the majority of people down there we decided to go there again. It is exceptionally clean and hygienic, and all of the people are really friendly, the prices aren't that bad either!
At A Glance Author Gem Contact Gem@bme.anon When A week ago Studio Access All Areas Location Market Street, Nottingham, UK We originally went to AAA on the Wednesday afternoon, after getting all hyped up, but unfortunately we were too late and the piercer had gone home so we made an appointment for the following morning.
I was really excited but really worried at the same time, until I got into town and was absolutely petrified. We stopped at a paper shop to get some lucozade, a glucose drink, to keep our blood sugar high, as last time my mum fainted because she didn't have anything to eat or drink before having it pierced. We went into AAA and filled out some authorization forms. As I was 16 my mum had to consent that I was having it done.
The piercer came down from the piercing area and called us up. He looked well scary but was actually really friendly and made me laugh a lot, he could tell that I was nervous! He made us rinse our mouths out with antiseptic mouthwash then we sat and he put some anaesthetic onto two pads that were placed onto the top and bottom of my tongue. As you aren't allowed to swallow it, I dribbled absolutely everywhere. The guy laughed and gave me a tissue, which I must say was absolutely saturated by the time the pads were removed. He said it was normal and not to worry, as by this time I had gone bright red!!! He sterilised absolutely everything and then we were ready. The guy did mine first because my mum was having hers without the anaesthetic. He got me to stick my tongue out and then relax it. He then dried it and marked on where the piercing was to be made. By this time I was breathing really heavily and was well nervous. He told me to relax and that if I pulled my tongue in wh ilst he was doing it he would stop, but the less I pulled it out then the faster it would be over. Thanks that really made me feel better lol :-). He told me to swallow when I was ready and then stick my tongue out, keep it relaxed. I swallowed then stuck my tongue out then closed eyes. Throughout the whole procedure he was telling me exactly what he was doing which made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. He quickly pushed the needle through the bottom of my tongue and then pulled the jewellery through. For me that was the most painful bit, the jewellery. He gave me a cup of water and told me I could rinse. And that was it! All of that worry for absolutely nothing!
I went home and took some nurofen for the swelling and some paracetamol for the pain. To be honest the most painful part of the whole thing was for about four days afterwards. I am really pleased that I had it done, I think that it is well cool, and I felt a bit stupid after because it was nothing! I am going back to AAA in about a week to get the bar changed for a shorter one, this they will do for nothing. I am really pleased about my piercing and I would recommend getting it done to the people that are considering it, the only thing I will say is make sure you get a well recommended piercing store and to have something sugary to eat or drink before having it done! Also aterwards make sure that you drink lots and lots of water, because that really does do wonders for swelling!!! Also I would recommend getting a flexi-bar (plastic) instead of metal if one is available as this also reduces swelling and healing time and makes it a lot easier to talk and eat!!!
Thanks for reading! :-)
Oh and by the way, I went home and I had been speaking to my dad for about what half an hour before he realised that I had had it done! He doesn't mind anymores so not to worry lol!
