I first fell in love with piercings when I was about eleven years old and I had a good friend with a nose ring. I remember going with her to watch her have her lip pierced, and I felt right at home in the piercing shop. Flash forward a few years and I had 14 piercings through various body parts. I loved and still love them all, but my current favorite has to be my tongue web piercing. I believe the first place I ever saw a tongue web piercing was on BME and I thought it was a neat piercing, but nothing more. However the more and more I looked at pictures and contemplated having one, the more I wanted one. So a few months ago I started bugging Matt about whether or not he could pierce my tongue web and he would dutifully take a look at it and inform me that, yes, yes he could pierce my tongue web.

I scheduled my appointment for the day after my birthday and my best friend agreed to come along with me. Upon finding out my plans, my younger brother offered to pay for my adventure which was right on. So on the day of my piercing I had those pre-piercing butterflies that I am sure many people get. I am usually pretty pumped up before heading into the shop and this day was no exception. I went in about a half hour early because I had nothing better to do and as it turns out, I ran into a friend of mine at the shop who asked to watch during my appointment. I agreed of course and we sat around for awhile before Matt was ready for us.
First things first I pick out a bead for my CBR and rinse out my mouth with Sterisol(delicious..). Matt gets out everything he needs, changing his gloves several times of course and has me sit down in the chair. He pokes around in my mouth checking out placement of the ring and how he will pierce my webbing. Being as psychic as I am, I know that I will probably end up drooling over him while he is piercing me, so I tell him to take it as a compliment. Anyhow, I open my mouth as much as I can and Matt lines up the needle, tells me to take a deep breathe and release... upon the release, the needle slides through nicely and Matt gets the ring ready to put through. Just as predicted, at this point, I am a drool machine.. very attractive. Now putting the ring in and closing it was a struggle. Because it is such a small area to work in, it took a little while to finish it up and my mouth was rather sore afterwards. My friends were caught between disgust and fascination while watc hing the whole procedure and yes they laughed at me during the drooling marathon. I hopped out of the chair, rinsed with Sterisol and checked out Matt's work. I absolutely loved it! I tried to be diligent during the healing process and rinsed with Sterisol constantly but I couldn't stop myself from playing with the new ring in my mouth, it was far too tempting. Luckily however, it healed perfectly with no real complications.
In February I went back to Matt and asked him to make me a barbell for my tongue web and so he made one that was absolutely perfect and snug and looked great. Unfortunately it was so snug that he couldn't get one of the balls on, so after about 10 minutes of causing pain to my poor mouth, Matt relented and put the CBR back in. The next day I came in and had a slightly longer barbell placed in my mouth with less pain. Over the past few months, both balls have fallen off at different points, but I went back and had them tightened and if they ever come off again I will be quite surprised. The piercing is completely healed of course and I have my first dentist appointment since the piercing soon, and I sure he will give me a strict talking to. One question I am asked all the time about this piercing is "what's the point?" People seem to think that since no one can see it unless I specifically point it out, that there is no point. This of course is the whole point. It is conceal ed and something that only I know I have unless I tell someone. It's a beautiful looking and lovely feeling piercing and definitely one of my favorites, if not my favorite piercing.
