Ever since I can remember, I've begged my parents to let me get it done. Every time I asked, they would stop me after they heard the word 'tongue' and say 'NO WAY JOSE!' They told me to wait until I moved out, that they'd kick me out, or that they'd tear it out. That would NOT be fun for anyone, now would it? So I became hooked on piercing my ears. My dad didn't really like the fact that I would add another hole to my ear every few months, so he told me I'd have to stop getting holes in my ears or the above consequences for tongue piercing will also apply to ear piercing. So I had to take them out and live with only one hole in each ear.

I started trying to find ways to get my tongue pierced. I asked a few piercing artists to do it, and they, of course, turned me down. I asked a few friends, and they turned me down, and one friend told me about this site! So when I got home that day, I came online and came to this site and ogled at all the piercing pictures and read quite a few of the stories. I read and read until I thought I could pierce my tongue with no problem at all.

I started to think that I could do it. I planned it out even, I was going to pierce my tongue with a thick sterile needle I had leftover from some extra surgery supplies. But there were a few problems. I wasn't sure if my veins were in the right spots, and I didn't think I could actually shove a needle through my own tongue at a precise angle in a precise spot. So I decided not to do it, and came back to read more stories about oral piercing. I started reading more into the tongue web piercing, and even though I thought it looked absolutely GROSS, my passion turned to piercing my web.

I read all the stories I could find on tongue web piercings, and I learned quite a bit about how to do it, what spots to avoid, and the golden rule of tongue web piercing: 'Never stop pushing!' After a few days of looking at pictures and reading stories, I decided I was going to pierce my web. I got an 18G CBR from Hot Topic, and my needle, and this peroxide stuff for your mouth that someone else suggested in their story on here. You can get it at the drugstore, it's a few bucks...I don't remember the name though. I also got some Colgate mouthwash, and a new toothbrush.

Now that I had all my supplies, I could pierce myself! On April Fool's Day 2002, I went into my bathroom and I set down about five paper towels, a small Dixie cup with some mouthwash mixed with some water, another Dixie cup with rubbing alcohol in it, and some sterile gauze pads. I put my jewelry into the alcohol cup, and my needle on a gauze pad that was soaked in alcohol. I brushed my teeth and gargled with some mouthwash. Then I swished around some water and spit that out. I opened up and looked at my web in the mirror for a few minutes, trying to see the best spot to stick the needle. I found it! I picked a spot that was kind of far back, but not close to any little veins. I washed my hands with some dial soap, and then I took the needle, and set it to the spot and pushed. Nothing happened. I could feel the needle poking the skin, but I didn't feel it or hear it go through! I was angry! So I kept pushing. Finally I heard a 'pop' sound, and I noticed the needle went in th rough one side. I pushed harder, and even though it felt uncomfortable, I kept going. I decided to stick a rolled up gauze pad on the other side and push through into that. It worked!

Now I've got the problem of a big, thick ass needle sticking in my tongue web! I ran into my little sister's room and showed it to her and she screamed! So then I asked her if she wanted to watch me stick the ring into it. She said, "Sure!" So we both went back into the bathroom and I pushed the needle through all the way and grabbed the ring, and pushed it in through the hole. It took a couple of tries, because the hole had closed a little bit when I pushed the needle out, but it went in just fine. The biggest problem was trying to get the ball back in the ring! I ended up using some tweezer/cuticle cutter things to get it in. That took about 30 minutes! The whole process took about an hour and a half. I had to keep stopping and starting over again. Once I got the ball in, I was really excited, and I went back to show my sister the finished product! I made her swear she wouldn't tell our parents. A few threats made her keep her promise.

All in all, I satisfied my oral fixation, I had a really cool piercing that stayed in for about 2 months before it ripped out and left me with a white spot on my web, and I scared a lot of people. I loved to play with it and I think that's why it ripped out, but it was definitely fun while it lasted! Remember to be safe when doing self piercings, and try to ask questions of professionals before doing anything yourself! It is dangerous after all! I'm kind of over my oral fixation now, and I've moved on to tattoos. Now that I'm 18, I can get one! I want some stars on my ankle/foot area or some on my wrist. I'll keep you posted on my updates. Have fun and be safe!
