I've always wanted to get my tongue pierced. I've actually always wanted 2 center tongue piercings. One right behind the other. But, I had made the decision to get them done one at a time. I was afraid of too much swelling. And if I didn't like it, I would only be wasting money on one piercing. And such.

So I didn't know when I was going to get this done. My best friend and I decided to go together. Someday. I remember sitting around in school, 2nd period study hall, with her, being bored. We got on the subject of piercings, and started talking about going together. Then it hit me. I had 120$ in my pocket. We could leave school early, and go get pierced! I would pay for her. I know it's quite the impulsive decision, but what better time than now?? So I told her. She thought I was crazy. but eventually agreed. Besides, I had told her, even if she chickened out, I would get mine done. And she would be there with me.

My tongue was my first real piercing. Besides my stretched ears, and various outer cartilege piercings that I did myself all the time to get my aggression out. It was her first piercing too.

We left school and drove around for a while, shopping and whatnot. Then the place opened at 1. So we drove over there. We smoked our last cigarettes and walked in. It looked friendly. We stood around looking at tattoo flash on the walls for a while. Then this guy Rich came out. Rich turned out to be my only piercer, but at this point, we weren't sure how he was. he had a lot of piercings and tattoos. so at least I wasn't scared that he was just starting out. I don't know. It sounds stupid, but it made me feel at ease.

We went into the back room and Renee decided to go first. He picked out a barbell, got the needle ready and got to work. He made the mark. And put the clamp on, and pierced her. Renee's not much for blood and piercings and all that junk, so she almost passed out. She had to lie down on the table for a few minutes and Rich had to get her water. This did not help in calming my nerves. She could talk alright though. So I wasn't really afraid.

Then it was my turn. I sat down next to the sink. He gave me mouthwash and I rinsed and spit it out. It tasted gross. He picked out a 14ga barbell, and then a needle. He put lube on the needle, then told me to stick out my tongue. He took a paper towel, and totally dried off my tongue, then made a mark. I looked in the mirror, and it was fine. I had told him I wanted to get a second one, so to leave room for it. It looked okay, and I figured he knew what he was doing. That would come back to haunt me for the second piercing. But it wasn't his fault.

He put the clamp on, which pinched a little, but not much. Suddenly I started worrying about which was he was gonna put the needle in. Bottom-up scared me. But to my relief, he positioned the needle on the top of my tongue. He was very gentle, and made sure I was ready. He told me that he would pierce me on the count of three. He counted slowly, then I inhaled, and as I exhaled, the needle went through. It felt like NOTHING. Then he took the clamps off and I sat there smiling with a big needle through my tongue. I was so scared about pain and stuff. I didn't even think I'd drool. But I did. And my friends started making fun of me. Rich told me that most people drooled and to not worry about it. I was embarrassed as hell, but still smiling all the same.

Then he put the jewelry in, and screwed on the bottom ball. No problem whatsoever. I paid him, and tipped him well. Then me and Renee were on our way. Her tongue hurt, but mine was pretty much okay. We bought listerine and such, and even though we shouldn't have, we smoked cigarettes right after. But I was very religious about listerine. I carried it around with me for 2 months after.

There wasn't much pain. But I was popping tylenols left and right, so I suppose I wouldn't have felt it. Sometimes there was a lot of pressure behind the barbell, on the bottom of my tongue. But that went away after a few days. Sometimes, if I don't use listerine for a while, it'll act up. But it's never given me any real problems. I still haven't changed the barbell to a shorter one. But I like longer barbells. Even if it's ruining my teeth. I want to stretch it to at least an 8ga, but money problems are stopping me from doing so. I plan on doing it soon though.

I like my tongue ring. And no it did not hurt. And yes, it makes sex better.

I was eating solid foods within 2 days, even if it hurt a little. But I mostly lived on soups for about a week. Also, 7-11 slurpees really help. But you have to drink them without the straw, cuz I found sucking on straws put pressure on the piercing.

Anyway. Cheers :)
