It all started when my surface piercing on my stomach started to grow out, it was my favorite piercing because it was so different! Once I had it removed I decided that I needed something new, fast!

I signed on to BME and looked at some of the pictures and read a few stories about various piercings. I had never considered piercing my tongue because I've had so much work done on my teeth and I hear that it ruins the enamel (I very well may be wrong so please no one take that offensively). Well even though I had no intention of piercing my tongue, I signed onto that part of the web site just to check it out. When I saw the "tongue related piercings" I didn't quite understand it at first, but was excited! Looking at the web piercings, I realized right away that, that was what I wanted. I asked around and most people told me that it didn't really hurt that much, I was convinced! Haha.
I was talking to a friend of mine about my new discovery, and she decided she wanted it too! (Also another friend came to get her nipple pierced). So last Saturday we went into Minds Eye Tattoo and Body Piercing to check it out (Here in Canada you only have to be 16 to be pierced without parental consent). I've had all of my other piercings (rook, navel, madison, helix) done at another place, but it was way too expensive. Once we checked it out it looked really clean and the girl was SO nice, reassuring and very informative.
I decided I wanted to go first so I waited a minute while the girl went to the back and prepared, then after about 3 minutes she called me into the back.(My friends both came back to watch). When I'm sitting in the chair is usually the time when I start to get a bit nervous, so I started to fidget a bit. Once I sat down, she put a bib around my neck, at first I was a little unsure about it's use, but I am definitely glad it was there!! (This is getting confusing, im going to call my piercer Kara instead of "she" or "girl") Thankfully it only took seconds to prepare everything so Kara was ready right away. I had to stick my tongue out while she used a marker to mark the spot on either sides of the webbing, I took a quick look at it and decided it was good. I sat back down in the chair and Kara removed the clamp from its package and put it on my tongue. When the needle came out it was shaped like a horseshoe, but I wasn't too shocked because it was the same as I had, had my ro ok pierced with. Kara told me to take a deep breath, I did, and she forced the needle through. It hurt very little, of course there was SOME pain, but nothing unbearable. Once the needle was through I got to relax my mouth for a minute. I have to admit that I have never drooled so much in my life! Haha. As I sat there the drool poured out of my mouth! Thankfully she put one of those dentist bibs on me ahead of time!! She could probably see that I was a bit embarrassed because she said "Don't worry about it, let it flow, everyone drools!" Then she told me to open my mouth REALLY big, she had to stick the clamp back on to put the jewelry in which probably hurt the most, but as soon as it was in, and the clamp was out, I was fine! I was given a bit of mouthwash to rinse my mouth then I got up and looked at it in the mirror...WOW...was it ever AWESOME! As soon as my friend saw she couldn't WAIT to get hers done! Kara and I went over the cleaning and care procedures, which are b asically just rinsing my mouth with mouthwash whenever I eat for the n ext little while (Please note *Do not use just any kind of mouthwash, please ask your piercer). When my friend was being pierced, I could NOT stop looking at it in the mirror. I recited the alphabet to see if you could see it when I talk, but you can't! Funny thing is, is that I ended up showing my mom the next day! (Today) SHE LIKES IT! And the best part? The healing time is only two weeks!!
