The title of this experience is what was said to me by a friend after looking at my latest addition to my hole collection: My tongue venoms.

I currently have 6 guage lobes, 16 guage orbitals in each lobe, a 14 guage rook, a 16 guage tragus, a 14 guage helix, a nose ring, a 14 guage eyebrow, my navel and now my venoms, and have also removed a failed tragus, a vertical labret, and a tongue web piercing. And now on to the story.
I loved oral piercings from the second I had my tongue web done, almost a year ago. It helped curb my oral fixation, and it provided entertainment when I was bored. The only problem was that it wasn't the easiest thing to play with: after all it was under my tongue. So I decided I wanted another one, IN my tongue.
Now I have a great need to be unique or at least fairly unique so obviously the plain center tongue was out. Looking at BME (Thanks guys u rock!) I found pictures of Venoms, and fell in love. Next came research to find out the pain factor, healing swelling ect... Unfortunatly, I found out that my tongue web would be badly irritated by the two piercings and regrettedly decided to retire it.
So finally I felt like I had enough information, and I went to visit my trusty piercer Jason down in Village Gate square. It was crazily crowded there so I sat down to wait with my friends until it was my turn.
Dum-Dadum dum: it's my turn. So I walked comfortably into the piercing room, chatting with Jason as usual. My friends sat down for a good old fashioned poking. Jason prepaired everything, of course comming from autoclaved packets and sterilized perfectly. Jason and his studio are amazingly clean. And then we were off.
First, I rinsed with nasty tasting listerine that made my mouth feel on fire. Then my tongue was dried off and a drool bib put in place. The marking was actually quite quick, even though Jason's apprentice was in the room watching and being explained to. After two nice even little dots were put on the proper sides of my tongue, Jason lubed up the first needle and said, "just breath for me." It burned and pinched horribly as it went through. A pain enough to cause me to whimper, which I wouldn't normally do. A tug, and a pull and the barbell was through. (Yes this piercing was done free hand)
Now, I should have mentioned that I have a very short tongue. This proved to be a bit of a problem with the second piercing. After hearing "stick it out a little farther" about six times, finally, jason was able to position the needle and the second and much more painful piercing was done. It was the same stinging, pinching, and tugging, except the pain was amplified by about 4. Not to mention the fact that the swelling had already kicked in by that time.
The first few days of healing were hellish: I came to hate listerine with a passion. I couldn't talk or eat well even though being the idiot I am, I did both anyways with much discomfort. After the first week, the swelling went down about halfway, and I could speak with only a slight lisp and eat normally again.
Two weeks went by, the time I was told to allow for healing and I came back to get shorter barbells. Well, my tongue wasn't healed yet. It still had little white rings around it: the discharge from a healing oral piercing. So I was supposed to come back in a week. That week goes by, and again the same thing. The fourth week goes by, and the shorter barbells wouldn't go in. I have formed a cone like shape of skin on the bottom hole of the left piercing.
This cone of tissue has yet to go down enough for me to change my barbells. However, my tongue is doing wonderfully otherwise. I used listerine, diluted 3 parts water to one part listerine after anything but water for the first 3 weeks and the switched to Sea Salt water rinses, diluted 1 teaspoon Salt to every 8 ounces of water. All seems to be going well. I have no pain and can eat and talk perfectly.
*What happend to me seems to be rare* So If you are thinking about getting venoms, go for it! They look amazing and can freak a lot of people out.( I enjoy that!) And as always make sure you go to a clean and trustworthy professional for all piercings.
