Hey everyone. My name is Jenni and I recently got my tongue web pierced. I have only ever had my lobes pierced before but as they were done with the dreaded piercing gun, I now realize that my tongue web is my first 'real' piercing. At first I was too afraid of getting it done in fear that it would really hurt. I now realized that I was worrying too much over nothing, it didn't hurt at all!

I had always wanted something pierced other than my lobes but had no idea what to look for. I wanted something that wouldn't be an 'in your face' piercing and something that could easily be hidden. I soon found that the tongue web was a suitable place to get pierced. You can't see it at all, even when you talk and when I've shown my friends, they all think it's different but cool.

I had heard from the good word of other pierced friends that Red Dragon was a good place to get pierced. The piercers are really helpful and friendly and the studio is reputable as being one of the cleanest and most hygenic. When I walked in to ask about my piercing, I could tell they were right. There were many awards and certificates declaring they were a great studio. It looked pretty impressive and it smelt very clean, like a hospital ward or something.

I went there about a month ago with one of my friends. When we got the front counter, a guy came over and introduced himself as Travis and asked if he could help. I said that I was interested in getting my tongue web pierced. He asked me to lift up my tongue to check if it could be pierced. He said it was and asked me to take a seat and fill out the authorization form while he got the equipment ready. He called out to us to come through and when I went in I saw a bench with all the packaged needles, clamps and gloves and jewellery. There was an autoclave on another bench as well. He had a little trolly set up with a needle, a clamp and the jewellery sitting on the dentist paper stuff.

He got me sit up on the black table-bench, washed his hands and put on a pair of gloves. He then gave me a little cup with some blue Listerine in it and asked me to swish it in my mouth for 30 seconds. I did, spat back in the cup, then he poured it down the sink and threw the cup in the bin. He also changed his gloves.

He explained to me that he was putting a 7mm 16 gauge curved barbell in and that he wouldn't need to mark a spot as he could get a middle placement quite easily. I lay down on the bench, opened my mouth and he put a clamp on my webbing. He then pushed the needle through my web, I didn't feel anything, just a tiny little prick. As he was pulling the needle out, he slid the barbell through. He then screwed on the little ball and said that's it. I couldn't believe it was done so fast!

We then went back out the front room and I paid for it. It only cost me $55 which is fairly cheap considering the good work that Travis did. He then told me how to look after it. I have been rinsing with blue Listerine each morning and for the first couple of weeks I did it everytime I ate something. It didn't really swell up much and when I ate dinner a couple of hours later, it never hurt once. In fact, I can hardly tell it's there anymore. A couple of hours after I got it done, I was eating some noodles when I felt the ball come off! I rushed to the bathroom mirror to see if I could get it back on but when I pushed the bar back in, it popped right out. I went straight back up to Travis and he slid it back in and tightened the balls really really tight so they would have no chance of coming loose again. That's the only problem I've ever had so far.

Travis is a great piercer, I really recommend him. He was so helpful and friendly. I think I'll go back there next time when I can think of another hidden piercing I'd like. I'm actually thinking of getting my scrumper pierced. That's a pretty secretive piercing and would be easy to heal like the tongue web.

Thanks for letting me share my tongue web piercing experience with you. Hopefully it has some information to answer any questions you may have. Have fun piercing!

Jenni
